PHONE-POWERED PORTAL: MAGIC OR SCIENCE?

3D-printing is great, but 5D-printing is better. You already use your phone for driving directions, watching videos and arguing with strangers. Now use it to open a portal to another dimension.

This design is big enough to hold most phones. I tested it with my ginormous Pixel 6, and it fits with the case. You might need to use a shim if your phone is small, but the image should still display correctly – or slide in any properly sized print photo. I’ve included some of my own artwork (1) and a video (2) to get you started, but you can customize the portal endlessly to suit your needs.

The model I printed is 8 inches wide – too wide for most printer plates – so I included designs that I split at the 4-inch mark in addition to the full-size portal and base.
