Lots of updates this month. First and most exciting, is I'm making major changes to the bases. Due to the pandemic, some people have had a really hard time sourcing 5mm spherical magnets, but in some countries, they are also illegal to sell (such as in Canada). This has created a lot of frustrations for many of you. Well, the new magnetic bases now can support both spheres and disks. The new magnetic hole has a flat side, allowing a disk to spin inside the hole, and giving it a flat surface to slide over to to lend the connection strength. 185 bases were reworked or created for this release. This also opens up the space for many possible magnet sizes. We know presently that it works fine with:
Secondly, the base edges have been thickened to 1/2", giving more glue surface area away from the magnets so that they don't accidentally get glued in.
Thirdly, this has let me add a few new variations. We now support:
Finally, we've retired the name "triplex". It confuses a lot of people, because Printable Scenery only used it for a short time when they moved from 1 connector in the middle of a 2x2 tile to three across the side (hence "triplex"). Now I just call that "openlock".
Next up, I've done the same thing to towne separate wall that I did to dungeon stone last month. I'm working my way through all the old releases, renaming them to meet the new naming convention, and adding any missing parts. A bunch of openlock stuff was missing, as well as a number of specific infinitylock parts. Those are all updated and have been moved in dropbox to the new folder. 775 files either renamed, updated or added.
I've uploaded these to MyMiniFactory using a new approach - single posts with many zip files inside them - hopefully this approach helps people with the sprawl, I know OpenForge can be a bit daunting.
