Dry Cave 2: Conglomerate Basics

To finish getting the Dry Cave set bootstrapped, we've now got the basics for the conglomerate texture.  This set has a few new pieces for the limestone texture as well.

We've got:

When I send out the poll for October, I'm going to change how I do dry cave, to focus the voting more around sub sets (like this and the prior release) instead of on the specific tiles.

Grab the files on Thingiverse and let me know what you think!

Nice, my printer is going to be working hard for the next few weeks ^_^

Yeah, that's actually in my outcrop queue. I really think those will look great and help make things much more natural feeling.

Looking forward to working with these on a project, there is a style of outcropping I have been really wanting as a try laying out a cave. I call it an 'S', the basic idea is to shift the walls in or out (or in) by one square e.g. take a 2x2 hallway into a 2x1 hallway or to shift a hallway over by 1 square. I hope it is the queue for work, and I am really looking forward to the angled halls for the dry cave.

This time I didn't use as much thinner on that brown that I washed over these, and the green is way more obvious to the eye. I plan on actually repainting the limestone pieces before my next release, but I had to get this out today, so there wasn't time to get a new scheme banged out. I'm super happy with the outcrop tiles too, I feel it makes them way more natural feeling. I'm hoping to make many more of the outcrops so that natural feeling caves are easier to pull off with this set. I do not have a mine set, but I've actually reworked how I was doing voting for caves specifically with upcoming sets, so I'll add this idea to that before I publish.

You must be using lights with a low R9 value. The paint you're using for the limestone must have a specific wavelength of red in it that your lights just don't have in them so it makes it look WAY more green than brown as you'd mentioned before. I REALLY like how you've got it where there's tiles and separate walls that in some places seem to overlap on top of the tiles. It's going to make some nice mine tunnels not just caves I think. Maybe in a future release you can include some with wooden supports for tunnels? Or is that already a previous set?
