Dwarven Halls Release 2!

Now the dwarves can have corners! This set adds in all of the corner walls from the OpenLOCK S Series set. IL, IO, IT and IX, giving you a wall end, a corner, a tee and a wall cross.

We've also added in a set of plain dwarven floors.  We feel like the first floor set for Dwarven Halls is great for areas you want to highlight, but lets be honest, do those dwarves really want to put knotwork on every surface? No, they have beer drinking to do. Well, these floors can be used for edging or rooms, while you use the knotwork for the halls or room centers, and so on.

Grab the corner/junction walls and floors on thingiverse and let us know what you think in the comments!

OpenForge 2.0 all the way! Magnetic bases rock!

Rick Schweiger

The magnetic bases are easier than they look. You drop a 5mm round magnet into each of the round holes (total of 8 per 2x2 base), and then glue the desired terrain block to the top of the mag base. Rinse and repeat, my friend. I can't help you with the OpenLock, though, as I exclusively use magnetic.

Thanks Devon. I'll try that route. Where do you find the STL for the clips?

John Campbell

You don't need to make the same choice for every set. For example, this set I'm really only releasing in openlock, because the S-Series walls are really perfect for what I was trying to accomplish. If you want to do what I do (which I'm very happy with), go with OpenForge 2 tiles, use magnetic + openlock bases. Then you have the flexibility to clip or use magnets, both of which are great for different circumstances. If I know where my players are going, I will prebuild the rooms and clip them with openlock. If I'm winging it (and I wing it a lot), the magnets help placing the tiles faster at the table by kind of auto aligning them. Best of both worlds.

Great work, Devon! I especially like corner/junction pieces.

I'm still confused about which set to use. I've read the tutorials several times and am just not getting which items to print. Open forge compatibility seems the easiest option. One issue is that I see all the open forge items, but never the open forge clips. On the other hand magnets seem to be the easiest to manipulate, but I don't understand the bases for those. So currently I am just imagining how all this would look on my table.

John Campbell

Fixed, good catch!

Doh, yeah, that's a typo, thanks, I'll go fix those

On the floors, there are two files named .openlock.stl that I assume are meant to be labeled .openforge.stl ? (They're the ones without a base so calling them openlock is a bit confusing :)
