Dungeon Stone Windows Released!

We continue to turn the crank on getting the Dungeon Stone set fully updated to OpenForge 2.0 and OpenLOCK.  The set this week is Dungeon Stone Windows.  We've released not just the standard OpenForge 2.0 tiles, but also the full set of OpenLOCK Primary Walls as windows (A, BA, G, Gx & Q).

Grab em on Thingiverse (OpenForge 2.0 Tiles & OpenLOCK Walls) and lest us know what you think!

Dungeon Stone Windows Released!

Comments

Cool, just keep in touch on it, I want to make sure people are getting the tiles they want. I released OpenForge diagonals today, but my next dungeon stone release will be putting out all the Ps and Os, so I'll keep making some progress here on making dungeon stone more complete over time.

I completely understand where you are coming from and to be 100% honest I have not printed off everything from Printable Scenery's free 8.0 templates to be able to tell you explicitly what I believe would be best to have in any of the floors/walls set.

I should also be clear, I'm ok with doing everything, but I've gotten feedback from other Patrons that they would prefer more variety instead of more and more variants of the same skin, so I'm just trying to determine where the right balance is between competing Patron interests.

I'm asking, because as you noted, this could take up months of release slots, and as far as I can tell trolling through printable scenery's site, while he mostly implements every floor (which is actually less of a problem, I could probably make that one happen more easily), I can't find a silge set that implements every single secondary wall

So one of the primary things here is that there are a number of walls that existed to solve tesselation problems prior to sidelocking. Specifically D, DS, C, QA & QB were all designed to solve the same problem that sidelocking pillars now solve, so they are just older designs that are no longer the optimal way to do things. Some of the other templates are extremely design specific. So as an example H, J, K, L, M, N are all templates for designs that need thicker walls to represent what they are - and for the most part, they have also been made obsolete by the S series The tag that Printable Scenery has "OpenLOCK is always backwards compatible" means that some of the secondary walls are purely there for historical reasons. So if I only implemented the ones that are not obsolete, would you feel that was reasonable?

I am more referring to OpenLOCK. The OpenLOCK tessellation and connection reference sheet The Primary Walls (both low and high) tesselation and connection reference sheet. The Secondary Walls (both low and high) tessellation and connection reference sheet. Let me also say a huge thank you for doing all the work you have already done. I just wish I had 1/100th the ability you have to do 3d modelling.

It kind of depends on what you mean by a "full set". And whether you mean a full set for OpenForge 2 (wall on tile) or full set for OpenLock. For OpenForge 2, I've generally considered a full set to be: * floor * wall * corner * door * diagonal * curve A new thing for me with Dungeon Stone, is trying to make sure that every type of wall also has door and window. I expect to continue doing that in the future. For openlock, there's no real definition of a full set per se, in so much as Printable Scenery adds new types all the time to solve specific problems with models they are designing. So I see it as kind of a tiered thing. * Primary Walls/Floors - Wall: A, BA, IA, G, Q Floor: AS, E, EA, F, I, R, S, SA, SB, U * Curved - Wall: X, XA Floor: V, W, T * Diagonal - Wall: P, PB, PC, Z Floor: O, OA, Y * Random junk - Everything else There's a separate thing that is the S series walls: S, SA, SB, H, I, II, IL, IO, IT, IX - These are actually an entirely different system, and some sets will probably only do S series - think sewers or caverns (or maybe dwarven walls). Sets where the walls are going to be on the order of a 5' square thick. Most of the random junk is stuff that printable scenery added for them doing single specific releases, so it's pretty low value to replicate, because their use is in many cases really specific to single printable scenery models. I'm totally open to adding specific things that someone wants to the above lists. Also, if people vote to do every last single tile that printable scenery has, I can of course do that - just the risk there is months of releases that most people will never print a single tile from. Let me know if there are some pieces you really feel should be in there, but my plan right now was to take Dungeon Stone through all of the above other than the "Random stuff" to create what I was going to consider a "full set". I'm totally open to reconsidering details of what a "full set" means. Once I was done with Dungeon Stone, my plan was to go back to the other 3 skins (cut stone, rough stone and tudor) and get them up to the same level that dungeon stone is at.

I started collecting your stuff over on Thingiverse even before I had my 3d printer. Now that I have upgraded to a 3d printer that is capable of printing terrain in high enough quality for me to use them in games I am hoping that you finish a complete set. I know that means a great deal of releases however by not having a complete set of any of the styles I cannot print out a large enough amount of terrain to feel comfortable to fully build out a castle or dungeon with the OpenLock triplex.
