OpenForge 2.0 Cut-Stone Venus Frieze Wall Released!
Added 2016-06-14 14:37:48 +0000 UTCLet's art this place up! The single most popular pieces in the last survey were dressing pieces, so I've been aiming to create more. This tile uses a marble frieze from the 1700s titled "Venus Reclining on a Sea Monster with Cupid and a Putto"
A big process deviation on this release is that I'm only publishing the two most common sizes I see this being used in (2x2 and 2x4), and I'm publishing the external and internal wall pieces at the same time. If you want another size, let me know and I can add it after the fact.
The main reason I'm not focused on the full range of size variation is that I've also added parts that let you print out the floor separate from the back, so you can use these to make any size you want. I found that printing the tile in pieces and painting them before assembly made the paint job substantially easier. Normally the floor blocks the paint brush from getting under overhangs, and this eliminates that problem entirely.

I'll explore that next time around. The art pieces I'm finding aren't a consistent size, so I don't know if I can make a one size alcove that all the art fits into.

2016-06-14 14:44:08 +0000 UTCThis is great! I love the idea of making some friezes, or even interchangeable frieze tiles for the more decorative hallways! We could even line up a bunch of 2x2 frieze tiles to make one very long frieze that covers many tiles, like something you might find in the hallway preceding the big bad evil guy at the end of the dungeon! Any chance of making the brick wall behind the frieze recessed a little bit, like an alcove that we can pop the frieze into? I feel like that would make for a more cohesive look.
