ADHD musings and whatnot...

sorry for the radio silence - wound up putting in a bunch of work on eos this past month, as well as tons of time into me and rowan's collaborative music project, which is now somehow over 20 tracks long.

more news soon, take care and thank you <3

i think the big side effect is that it does take quite a lot of energy to make sense of, and maintaining that energy for a long time can become unsustainable. certain things help with this - caffeine has always been my go-to - but you need to use helpful tools with reason, or else the noise can become a pool of anxiety rather than a pool of opportunity. i find that when i do run low on energy, that kind of happens by default, too. eating and sleeping decently have been obvious wins in that regard, as has semi-regular exercise.

thank you for sharing these thoughts. "the noise" doesnt get much appreciation. do you find that "the noise" comes with any unwanted side effects, and if so, how do you cope with them? asking as someone who has been on the fence about reintroducing noise into my life. no pressure to respond and take care

That is a fascinating read, and i’m glad that you figured it out! And also that somehow feels… relatable? I had a diagnosis of adhd as a kid but didn’t know about it until two years ago, and even tho i’ve never really tried to tease out how my brain really works, that “swimming through a sea of noise and picking out the good stuff” description sounds oddly familiar

That's super relatable. I'm one of those people who has benefited from the narrowing of focus that medication provides. Lately I have been stepping away from that and learning to embrace a bit less focus in the pursuit of a healthier and less single minded approach to my work. It's been scary to change something that's worked for most of my life, but it's extremely valuable to me to know that I don't need the meds as much as I thought. Great write up! Hope you continue to thrive in your own way <3
