patreon Q&A, hmmmm, maybe,
Added 2019-07-20 00:03:43 +0000 UTChey all
was considering doing a stream or vid where i answer a bunch of questions from patreon specifically; it would be probably be good fore more in-depth questions that i don't usually have the time or energy to go into during regular streams, and i'd probably wind up uploading it somewhere as well
drop some questions in the replies here and i'll see about getting around to it! and be sure to read the replies before you ask your question so you don't ask any duplicates
just about any question that isn't some weird question about my social life is fine by me - i'm especially fond of weirdly specific questions that wind up having answers that are a bit longer than one might imagine, so feel free to get down to the nitty gritty re: production stuff, "lore", etc.
i likely won't answer all of them (i can decide not to for whatever reason i like) but i'll try to come up with a good response for as many as possible
cheers ♥

Could you go into more detail on Feel-Line Systems, The Hedgemaze, or The Underground Garden? Also how did the name Halley Labs come about?
2019-08-15 04:35:16 +0000 UTCi'll try to answer this properly in the vid but: a lot. in that song, bitspeek. acid uses VSTs, so you can use any VST on a vocal track. i use whatever a vocal track calls for.

2019-08-15 01:48:23 +0000 UTCThroughout all your years releasing music you've told a lot of stories through the medium. What influenced you to start taking this approach to your music? In addition, what's your favourite story that you've told through one of your albums?
2019-08-14 18:46:32 +0000 UTCDo you see any bad habits in your music that you are trying to break/have broken?

2019-08-14 16:40:49 +0000 UTCThis will be a bit different from the other questions. Do you feel generally happy of what you are doing in life? Where do you usually find happiness from? What are the things that make you keep going forward and keep you motivated in what you love to do? What do you think is your greatest accomplishment so far, or if you're not sure, what would you like to accomplish in future? And one more question - what is your favourite thing about yourself? I know everyone else had questions related to your music (which is obvious), but I would love to hear answers for these kind of questions too. PLURR ♥

2019-08-14 14:53:29 +0000 UTCWhat do you use to edit vocals? I’m using ACiD and sometimes I want vocals to sound like they are under effects. It’s local library of plugins allows me to pitch shift it, add echo and or distort it. The most interesting for me is how did you make Pinkie Pie sound creepy in the GOT MY PONY SPAM FOR YOU?

2019-08-14 13:41:15 +0000 UTCWhat is (are) your personal favorite album(s) you have made? What is your current favorite album by another artist?

2019-08-14 10:29:14 +0000 UTCWhich recent piece of music of yours do you dislike the most?

2019-08-14 07:38:19 +0000 UTCIs hyi a driver programmed for a certain operating system? Are there any specifics on how their lore came to be? Does hyi like being "stuck" inside a (or multiple) computer systems or do they tend to get bored when there are no user inputs? Has someone given hyi root privileges so they are in full control when the computer is on? What happens when the PC with hyi gets shut down? :o Thanks alot, I love hyi :3
2019-08-14 06:59:46 +0000 UTCWill Emoticon/FIAB get a physical release like Everything is Better In Color or a Best Selection?

2019-08-14 06:36:14 +0000 UTCHow do you go about creating albums? Like, for me personally it's quite easy to produce a song but building an album of music with a vibe related to that song without being same-y and repetitive is really difficult. Is there a specific process or mind-set that makes album production easier?

2019-08-14 06:31:29 +0000 UTCHow did you get into making music? : D

2019-08-14 06:25:24 +0000 UTCMight be a little late and I already have another question on here but, did you ever get anxiety when you first started music, like heaps of it?
2019-07-23 17:24:49 +0000 UTCWere the vocals on Weary Willow based on a recording of yourself, or from a synthesized source like other Kitcaliber music?

2019-07-23 01:49:07 +0000 UTCok, serious question here. what vehicles do every member of halley labs and underground garden drive? darius drifts domino of course. is nitro driving honda city and motocompo? what about others? the lore needs to exist!

2019-07-21 10:20:13 +0000 UTCYou do not view your early works as representative of your current quality and style, but what are the earliest albums/tracks you've made and look back on and think they've held up even now?
2019-07-20 15:22:59 +0000 UTCOut of all the singles, eps, and albums you've made, which one is your favorite, and least favorite (excluding detergent ofc)? And somewhat related, what was the hardest song/album to make, and which one was the most fun to make?
2019-07-20 09:35:17 +0000 UTCDumb one— Is Mary in the Hedgemaze the same Mary as Mary in the hall/stadium/space from Speakonia? Less dumb— Is Ritual about playing a vinyl record?
2019-07-20 08:56:30 +0000 UTCI'm getting another computer soon with specs high enough to handle my normal workload with the lfo thing you told me to implement into my leads and synths. I do want to ask though, how do you master tracks? Do you export it first or do you edit it in the project itself?
2019-07-20 03:27:55 +0000 UTCHow much of your work do you think is attributed to the wrong alias? Example being funny bastard on the radio tower originally being by rotteen and is now considered an hhsu track.
2019-07-20 01:54:11 +0000 UTCsince truxton's whole sort of genre and musical vibe presumably would not fit with Halley Labs more serious angle as of late, is it fair to say that he might receive a rework in terms of what he puts out if you ever put something out with him again? is plunderphonics even something you would want to return to, or do you feel that it has taken off via internet culture to a point where there's not much to be done in that genre that would be fresh enough to release under the Halley Labs label?

2019-07-20 00:17:28 +0000 UTCi'm going to answer this in the video as well but: of course. i like to imagine it's painfully, brutally, embarrassingly obvious
