In Loving Memory

Resolute (the boyfriend) here. I wish I didn't have to give this update.

For those who aren't aware, Wilds passed away a week ago. I still don't know the full details, please don't ask. While his surgery and follow-up were successful, at least one fungal infection had spread to other parts of his body, including his lungs. Without a functioning immune system, things declined very rapidly. I know I tried to strike an optimistic beat in the previous update, but... he had so much stacked against him that even the best care in the state and every ounce of fight from the strongest man I have ever known just wasn't enough to beat impossible odds.

He was sedated and made as comfortable as possible in his last days. He had family around him. I'd flown down a few days before to help support his family and visit him. I didn't get to talk with him since he was sedated, but since they say people can still hear you under sedation, I made two promises to him before I left.

One was that I would take care of his communities. He brought people together, we forged new friendships. He gave us so much. I don't want to see that incredible accomplishment fade and people drift apart. His Discord and (unofficial) Telegram groups will remain, and ownership transfer will be taken care of when we're able.

The second, which all of you can help with sharing: if possible, his writing will live forever. We already have people gathering copies of his stories, but feel free to save your own.

Here's the tentative plans for the near to mid future:

Much love to you all. Please, take care of yourselves and each other. Reach out to those around you if you need help, as I've promised to do the same.

I didn't know him before I found out about this...but just by one look at his twitter page I felt inredibly sad that such ppl have to go due to such unfortunate circumstances. Not only he loved dragons and wrote great stories about them, but it's also obvious he supported my country, Ukraine, in our fight for freedom and peace. Which made him an even greater person in my eyes. So he deserves to never be forgotten and I'll have a look at what stories he wrote now.
