In Loving Memory

Resolute (the boyfriend) here. I wish I didn't have to give this update.

For those who aren't aware, Wilds passed away a week ago. I still don't know the full details, please don't ask. While his surgery and follow-up were successful, at least one fungal infection had spread to other parts of his body, including his lungs. Without a functioning immune system, things declined very rapidly. I know I tried to strike an optimistic beat in the previous update, but... he had so much stacked against him that even the best care in the state and every ounce of fight from the strongest man I have ever known just wasn't enough to beat impossible odds.

He was sedated and made as comfortable as possible in his last days. He had family around him. I'd flown down a few days before to help support his family and visit him. I didn't get to talk with him since he was sedated, but since they say people can still hear you under sedation, I made two promises to him before I left.

One was that I would take care of his communities. He brought people together, we forged new friendships. He gave us so much. I don't want to see that incredible accomplishment fade and people drift apart. His Discord and (unofficial) Telegram groups will remain, and ownership transfer will be taken care of when we're able.

The second, which all of you can help with sharing: if possible, his writing will live forever. We already have people gathering copies of his stories, but feel free to save your own.

Here's the tentative plans for the near to mid future:

• This Patreon may remain active for the moment, so if you need to downgrade or cancel your membership, do not feel bad. Your financial situation comes first.

• Speaking of finances, there will be a GoFundMe soon for his medical expenses, as they've fallen on his parents. They are setting up a special trust to facilitate that. I imagine proceeds from any payout(s) before sunsetting this Patreon will go towards that, but I can't speak to how that would work. So, again: if you need to cancel your membership, please do so. Important updates will be made by public post.

• There will be a celebration of life at some point in the coming months. He didn't want a traditional funeral "where everyone is all dressed up and sad." Options for streaming, remote connection, etc. will be arranged once we have that planned.

• In the coming weeks will be a form or other system that people can write in about how our beloved writeryote blessed our lives, to be collected in a scrapbook for his family.

• His stories will be archived, organized, and made accessible. Please do not ask about continuing his works at this time.
