We don't know that Worm is using Nen to alter his body to be like a worm. It's very possible that it's just his body, but if he's a Transmuter, he may be using his aura to change his body structure. Also, all you've learned about how Nen works so far is the four major principles. You're assuming that Nen has no rules because we're being shown some of the most powerful people in the world after having only been exposed to a handful of nen abilities. You thought it was funny how little Leorio knew about Nen, but you're kind of in the same boat.
