What's... funny(?) to me is that this is SO different from how this went down in the actual campaign, that it makes me think the mystery from the campaign was (I assume) not super relevant to the main campaign (I never watched far enough in to know for sure.) The Devil Toad definitely wasn't the Bad Guy™ in that version. (At least not where the tent chaos was concerned.) But yeah, I have mixed feelings about not only making part of the Mighty Nein responsible for this, but also the extreme level of slaughter that resulted. But it is a TV show, no time for nuance. =D

Not entirely, mind you, as the carnival staff failed to do a number of the tasks the show covers in the early minutes such as patching up the tent ceiling (which would have kept the beetles from getting in the tent), and guarding Toya's caravan beetle supply around the clock like she insisted upon (Caleb and Nott wouldn't have been able to sneak in, therefore likely would have slunk away defeated). Some will blame Gustav and Toya for the devil toad even being there and it not being fully controlled respectively, or Molly for giving free tickets away to get a packed house, but I don't think that's particularly fair. It's definitely a departure from the campaign, but I'm intrigued.
