This film was so important to me. I was so excited for it as a kid. I bought the novelization and saw the movie in theaters Jim was the first pin I bought at Disney World. I read Treasure Island as a kid because of this movie.

2025-11-19 08:05:15 +0000 UTCI cannot wait to sit down and watch this reaction. Low key I think this and the Emperor's New Groove are the two most under appreciated Disney animated films. New Groove for the absolutely manic production process (Did you know at one point the department in charge of archiving films came along asking for a script and the cast and crew just laughed because there wasn't one) that somehow still resulted in one of THE funniest and quotable movies (At least between my wife and I) ever. Treasure Planet for choosing to tell a far more emotionally grounded story with a lot of the grit and grime. But also Treasure Planet because the writers pitched this movie in 1985 and were flatly rejected by Disney. They literally had to strike a deal to be able to make this movie (Hercules was made a feature film on an agreement they would be able to make Treasure Planet next) The movie and story are a hugely loved part of our life but I love the tenacity and drive of the story behind this film so much
