I think you just disagree with her politics. She's very liberal coded, wanting to work within the system to make improvements without violence.

Well that and a lot of the things about her character tbh, like she's set up as such a noble soul and sure in many ways she is, but her plan is so bad and her wanting to cooperate with the World Government? Who are STILL CURRENTLY SELLING MERMAIDS AND FISHMEN INTO SLAVERY?? That's WILD. Like it would be one thing if the slavery was like over-over, but it's explicitly STILL happening??? Nahhhhhhh And her big activism thing being "sign my petition" is just comical. She's the QUEEN. kdjfghdlgfk sorry, I really want to like this arc because there are so many great things about it, but then it just stumbles on these weird little things that make it so hard to take seriously. And this part bothers me even more than the Sanji stuff (which I can just ignore because it's just a dumb gag) because this is like the thematic core of the arc and if it doesn't work then the whole arc doesn't work. For me at least. Lots of people just complain about Hody Jones being a disappointing villain: I think he's fine, I don't care, I really like the big fight in this arc actually. Otohime is the thing that I find hardest to appreciate about Fishman Island.
