The problem is with your thought process their not trying to arrest pirate they are shooter them in the back as they running away and killing them they aren't even trying to save injured people on their side also they support slavery,killed Robin whole island just for learning killed innocent pregnant women because they might have slept with a famous pirate let Crocodile almost take over a whole Country and lie about stopping him just to look good that just to name a few things they done so they don't have the moral High Ground the real reason they wanted to kill ace is because who his dad was not about being a pirate

2025-08-20 17:29:10 +0000 UTCThe Whitebeard Pirates lost their captain and one of their commanders, as well as multiple other members and important allies, they fully lost and they've given up and are escaping, they're only fighting back because the marines are chasing them. By not letting them escape, the marines are prolonging the battle past the point where they already got what they wanted: they destroyed the strongest pirate crew in the world, and ended up letting another potentially even much stronger one arise in its place in Blackbeard. The fighting is entirely pointless other than Akainu and Doberman's stubborn need to fully eliminate every enemy, even when they're themselves in no place to continue the fight and have a more dangerous enemy at their backs (again: Blackbeard). And they're abandoning all the wounded in the field. It's just wasting lives for minimal gains. It even sucks from the tactical point of view, especially when the marines have already lost so many people themselves and they really should be trying to save the ones they still have so they can fight another day. Not to mention that killing escaping enemies is generally considered dishonourable (although admittedly I shouldn't be expecting honour from the marines, fucking genocidal slaveowner protecting bastards....)
