it's nice seeing serizawa learning to become his own person :3 as for your question, reigen couldnt get in and out of the parallel world by himself cause he's not a psychic (he would have gotten out of it if anyone had woken him up but ah, they all just let him sleep). time was also going much faster in the parallel world, so reigen spent quite a number of days in there. oh, and serizawa isn't agoraphobic per say. he was a shut in cause he was scared to hurt others, not because large spaces scare him (tho they probably do make him a bit anxious now, just from lack of exposure for so long)
