Huh... interesting. I interpreted it as Reigen has always been looking out for Mob's well-being. That's the vibe I got from their first meeting too, when Mob asked him about powers and Reigen gave him the knife speech. Reigen has always been exploiting Mob financially, which we can trust the show to explore at some point, but he really does care about his mental well being. Look at the season 1 finale too. Or, to put it another way, I don't view this as a change for Reigen's character yet. He is continually exploiting Mob's labor while supporting his personal growth. I don't think the relationship will change until Reigen acknowledges that part specifically.
