Finding the right mood- biker-girl story

Hey everyone!

This week I made a moodboard & some initial pose-sketches for the biker-girl story!

The moodboard

So why create a moodboard you might think? Well, it’s to make sure the atmosphere for the story stays consistent from scene to scene.

Now normally such a moodboard is not really required, because most characters in the game will stay around their own enviorments- meaning all their scenes will sortof automatically fit together. [Sophie her entire story for example takes place in the Biogarden.]

But the biker girl won’t have her own location. She will just drop into the game at some point, and then appears at various locations around the ship. Now, it would be weird to change entire locations just to accommodate this story's atmosphere- so instead, I decided to let her appear at locations that already matched together & had the right atmosphere.

And so I picked these locations for her scenes.

Now these loactions all have similar color schemes , and are all rather dark as well. And that was what I was looking for. So, so far so good!

But to push the atmosphere a bit more I decided to make a some small adjustments- like on the image on the middle-left (the asteroid mini-game location). Here I let the blinds down. And by doing so, I hoped to create a sorof ‘Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell’ feeling- which is what I'm looking for in this story :)

Then  I also changed the shuttlebay itself a bit, to match the previous scene more. In this case I thought it would be accaptable to make this room darker, since the blinds went down. Or is it too much? ;)

Pose sketches

And here you can see a few poses I made for this scene in the shuttlebay. The biker girl is getting a new tattoo here when Keen accidently walks in on her. It might look like she is covering herself up...but she is in fact hiding her tattoos ( which I haven't drawn here yet).

And this is another scene of her arrival. At first it will be unclear who the biker is- or that she is girl. But this scene will quickly reveal that. Now I must say, I really enjoyed drawing these poses!

Well, the next step is to start to refine all this a bit more – but I hope you already like it so far!
