Biker girl- first designs!

Hey everyone!

This week I made a start with the biker-girl story. And the first thing I worked on was the design of the biker-girl’s bike :) 

The bike

Now, this is a space-bike of course. So the challenge was to design something that would feel both like a bike and a spaceship. And the easiest way to do that, was to keep the general shape of the bike, but drop the wheels. So that’s what I did.

Now I always imagined this should be a racing bike. But when I actually started drawing that, it didn’t feel right anymore. (I guess it gave the bike to much of a sports-look, which made it to similair to the wrestlers-designs). And so then I changed the bike-design, and turned it into a cruiser type bike.

Well, here you can see the steps I took to design the bike.

The girl

Now after I got the bike design down, I started working on the biker-girl again. The initial sketch was still pretty generic. And therefore I tried to bring back  some of the bike's shapes  into her cloting design. I'm not entirly done yet, but this is more or less what she looks like now.

And then the last thing I needed to design, was her helmet. And because this biker-girl is a sortof daredevil, I based the helmet's look on that of a japaneese ‘oni mask’ ( I think these masks look super cool! But it’s also a bit of a meatahpore for the biker girl herself ).

Well, and then came the biggest challenge :) Most girls in the game, have their own custom designed background, which alwasy compliments their color scheme. But this biker-girl will move around the ship quite a bit -so that might give some unwanted color clashes.

But I added her to the Repair Bay (where you will first see her), to see how well that works. And I actually think it works pretty well. Now let's just hope the same goes for the other backgrounds as well ;)

Next I will refine these designs and make more poses for her….and then I need to come up with some cool tatoos for her as well. That will be fun too I think :)
