Hey everyone!
A long time ago, I once made a demo for Space Rescue. And that demo is basically Lune her story, but then without point & click gameplay, or a mini-games. And that’s because thse elements were’t yet part of the game back then. So the demo is quite outdated and could really need an update...

Animation
But if I’m going to update the demo, I also feel I should update Lune her XXX-animation (in Zego-G). It was the first animation I ever made, and it was quite limited in terms of frames...making it a bit jittery.
So, I’ve asked Jim to help me out with this (Jim runs Space Rescue’s Twitter channel, but is also a fine artist!). And he did a pretty good job, added 9 inbetween-frames to the animation & bringing it to a total of 14 frames.
For comparison, this was the old animation (5 frames).

And this is the new animation (14 frames), which not only runs smoother, and can now also be played at slower speeds if needed.

Now, over time my animations got a bit more complex; I added seperate faces over the animations, and strated to detach the characters from the backgrounds, so I could add more special effects. And I did the same here.
You do don’t see it yet, but now I will be able to make the camera float in the background, and I can slowly move Keen& Lune back and foreward, seperate from their main animation -which should make everything feel a bit more natural.
Light
And then I also wanted to change the overall lighting a bit. It felt a bit to harsh comapred to all the other scenes in game. So I made the version you see below, trying to make it a bit more cozy. But maybe I’ll add both light-schemes to the game; lights on or lights off?
My sketches:
The result:

So, that’s also something I did last week :)
Now the colaboration with Jim went pretty smooth (thanks Jim!), so we can probably update a few more animations like this.
But which one to update first? Let me know if you have any preferences :)
All the best!
