November S4 Update

Hello everyone,

Here's the latest on S4's progress: 5/10 scripts are finished, four in production, one not started. Let's peek behind the curtain to give you a better idea of what "in production" means. Note that I write and record one map at a time concurrently, so I'm as far into recording as I am into the writing.

Script #6* is 85% complete (currently over 8000 words). I have three more maps to write about and an intro/conclusion to do. This one is not a long wad, I just wrote a lot about it.

Script #7 is 65% complete (currently 7400 words). This wad is a colossal undertaking that I am in too far not to finish, but it will take a toll on me. I accept it.

Script #8 is 42% complete. No telling how long this will get, but it's a wad I'm very excited to cover.

Script #9 is 50% complete but that doesn't reflect how much work is left for me. I've set it aside for now, not planning to touch it until I'm ready to write...

Script #10 is 0% complete. This is the most important script of the season for me, and I'm worried sick about screwing it up because I have a steep personal interest in making it good. Actually not just good, perfect. The only factor on my side is that I know the wad very well.

So far, I have written 65,000 words for the season and I expect that figure to climb to around 80-90k. For scale, Season 3 was 152,000 words across 24 episodes written between May of 2022 and April of 2024, so that's 65k in three months (20k/month), versus 152K in 23 months (6.6k/month). I would be ecstatic if I could be done writing by the end of December, but I don't think that will happen. DoD scripts only ever get harder the further into them you get.

After I finish the scripts, I will have to comb them for stupidity, psychobabble, and errors. Oh yeah, and I have to make sure they're actually entertaining, consistent, etc. Season 4 is intended to be a complete object, with some overall points I want to make throughout the run. Editing and voiceover recording will proceed when I have ten scripts ready. Candidly, the editing will take a long time too, but let's not put the cart before the horse.
