February '24 Update - End of Season Is Nigh
Added 2024-02-04 18:27:55 +0000 UTCGood afternoon folks,
I'm not drawing this out for dramatic effect, I promise!
At the end of December, right after I finished Nova III, unforeseen and unpleasant circumstances forced me to relocate on short notice. I spent the rest of December and January apartment hunting. I tried to work on a Sigil II episode, but in my interim living space, burdened by the stress of finding a new place and other matters, writing did not come easily. At this point, the Sigil II script is only 60% done and I don't like it at all (the script, not the wad), so I'm thinking about pitching it and focusing on the real last episode of the season. The point is, I haven't worked seriously on the show for six weeks, which is incredibly unusual, but now I have found a place, I am settling in, and I will begin working again soon.
As you have no doubt noticed, the "season" format of Dean of Doom died a long time ago--we are now in our third year of S3, which is nonsensical. Very soon, we will move to a non-serialized version of the show, that is, one without episode numbers. This way, Dean of Doom can continue without a concrete end point in mind for a while longer.
One more quick announcement, which is that I lied to you: Eternal Doom was in the S3 trailer, but it will not actually be in Season 3. I was planning to do a 90s Wad Month in February or March of 2023, but after finishing Requiem and Perdition's Gate, I simply did not have the wherewithal to complete the trilogy. It wasn't the fault of the first two: I just had a rough couple of months and Eternal Doom is a big undertaking. I will make an episode on it someday. Sorry for the false advertising!
I hope you are all having a good year so far, and thank you so much for steadfastly supporting this little endeavor. I appreciate you all.
Sincerely,
Nolan

That's a great way to think of it: each season represents a slightly different reviewing paradigm or perspective on the game. I think I would still enjoy Dehydration today though :) All the best to you as well, General.

2024-02-20 01:55:16 +0000 UTCI hate to hear about the residence issues you've been having. I hope that this brings all of that to a close for a duration at least. I understand the pressure with having a consistent format, as that implies a continuation that one man can't confirm all on his own. I never took the label of the series as a "season" that seriously in the sense of a timely distribution, but rather that it was all lumped together by your current ideals on the game. It's a hard thing for me to explain, but basically that you'd feel different on Eviternity knowing what you know now, the mindset has a finer grain to it now. I wish you the best for the rest of this year, and appreciate knowing one other person that overall enjoyed Sigil II lol.

2024-02-06 12:07:04 +0000 UTCI can guess Combat Shock 2 will be in the last episode based on elimination, though I hope it's meatier than just an 8 map wad! (Eternal DooM would have made a fitting finale episode, IMO, itself but I'm looking forward to whatever is on the way. Something very large like Jamal Jones would also be amazing especially as a Doomkid near-and-dear.) Sorry to hear about rough times!
