2023-05-26 21:47:14 +0000 UTCHey Dean, I know you experienced a bit of burnout with the April Fool's episode this year, so I had a suggestion that you might like. Instead of trying to make each April Fool's a surprise to the viewers, which is kind of futile like you observed, why not make it a surprise to both you and us by making it your designated "weird WAD" day? Either full on jokewads, or stuff like the Mandrill Ass Project or Beyond Reality; silly and playful, but still WADs that have a focus on gameplay. It helps that such WADs aren't usually too long, so the episode needn't take up too much of your time or mental energy. I recommend Beyond Reality for this kind of duty; it's a hodgepodge of remixed Doom assets, a pretty cool soundtrack, and a new theme every three maps, so the jokes don't get too old!
