I had a friend went to see Ken Dodd in Blackpool one time, the show started about 7pm, ended about 2 am. He felt annoyed that the show went on so long, spoiled his plans for the rest of the night in Blackpool. I asked him, why didnt he just leave earlier. I would have, except Id already paid for it, and I was enjoying it too much.

2025-12-21 02:24:51 +0000 UTCThat’s a very old joke but Ken delivers it superbly. Ken Dodd’s stage shows in the UK were legendary. It wasn’t unusual for one of his shows to last 4 hours, going well over his allotted time! He just wanted to make others laugh, and he certainly achieved that by giving the audience that went to see him, their full moneys worth! There will never be another Ken Dodd, and the world is a much sadder place without him in it.
