Christopher MacBride's follow-up to The Conspiracy (2012), Flashback is full of typically trite psychedelic philosophizing, but takes a somewhat unusual approach to its gnostic themes. By simultaneously venerating two seemingly opposed manifestations of the divine feminine, the film becomes helpful for diagnosing some contemporary spiritual pathologies.
