Divining the Dream Machine
Added 2023-02-18 05:04:12 +0000 UTCThomas reads an essay titled "Divining the Dream Machine: Science-Fiction, Hollywood, and the Technology of Antichrist" which he recently presented at an Orthodox Christian philosophy conference. Drawing heavily on the work of Paul Kingsnorth, Jasun Horsley, and Father Seraphim Rose, he attempts to identify a feedback loop between corrupted imagination and corrupted technology. Such a feedback loop is at the very heart of the anti-human religion of the future and is amplified by both the art form of filmmaking and the genre of science-fiction.

What an excellent discussion,so important as our culture and society are degenerating so rapidly, done on purpose of course...

As an Orthodox Christian myself, there's really nothing else like it out there and it's so helpful and interesting. I only mention this because you repeatedly say you don't want to use this platform for your faith, which is totally understandable, BUT I hope you'll reconsider, at least to some degree :) Thanks for all the work you guys do!
