In case you're still taking info in to consideration, I ordered a Late Nite Stars deck and t-shirt and something happened with the shipping and it never came. Dealing with them on a customer service level was horrible as you might imagine haha. I literally was directly emailing Chase and he was getting back to me like once every two weeks. Took about two months to resolve the issue. Love their art direction, videos and everything but on the running an effective business they have a lot of room for improvement. Think it's always interesting to think of the perspective of is this actually a sustainable business/are their competent people behind the wheel

For board tier list, Quasi has some really great graphics IMO but they use two different manufacturers, BBS and PS stix. I preferre BBS and I’m currently riding a bbs wood Quasi and it’s great. However, I’ve had two ps stix quasi decks a few years back and they only lasted a matter of 4-6 weeks before they got all chipped up, lost pop or snapped completely. I think it’s really confusing and inconsistent to use two different manufacturers. I think Quasi would get a ton more board sales and solidify their boards reputation if they just stuck w bbs.

This is not exactly brand-specific, but it’s a larger issue I have with the broader landscape of deck brands today—too many skaters are starting their own brands. It’s not that skater owned companies are bad (obv), it’s that everyone wants to be the next Reynolds or Carroll, and it’s watered things down. When I first got into skating, part of the excitement was how stacked the teams were, and how they felt like real crews. Baker, Zero, Flip, Girl, Toy Machine, etc, all had multiple SOTY-level skaters plus deep rosters of unique personalities. Now, as soon as a team gets a few top-tier guys, someone breaks off to start their own brand. It’s understandable, but it’s made the landscape feel scattered and less special.

When I started skating in the early 2000s, it was because I played Tony Hawk pro skater and thought skaters like Reynolds, Muska, Rowley, and Bam were cool. I wanted to be like them, not because I saw a Toy Machine x Pokémon deck or an Anti Hero x Dragon Ball Z shirt. Skateboarding itself has to be what’s cool. When it starts trying to borrow hype from other things in an effort to become more mainstream (that includes turning contests into UFC-style spectacles, or making skate 4 into skate Fortnite), it loses what makes it special in the first place.

Brands like Primitive are the perfect example of how trying to make skateboarding “bigger” can actually make it lamer. They’ve confused “bigger” with “more corporate.” Skating used to grow through creativity, individuality, and the personalities of the skaters, not marketing and endless collabs. Back in the Baker, Girl, and Zero era, brands appealed to skaters first, they built their brands around the personalities of the guys who rode for them, and that authenticity made everyone else want in. FA/hockey—love em or hate em—proves that’s still the right formula, they built their identity around the style and personality of their team, not by chasing non-skaters. The way to make skating cool isn’t by attempting to appeal to outsiders hoping they’ll spend money; it’s by speaking to skaters and making others want to be part of that world.

"concrete visionary" (a brand that came from FP insoles and sponsors Paul Hart) is sending out a bunch of decks to some creators to giveaway/ review and apparently you can get your first one for $15. some of the graphics are akira-like, some are abstract, some are odes to ODB, some are rip-n-dip-like, and some of them are, well, "inappropriate". it feels kinda ode airing them out bc they were gonna send me 25 boards until they showed me what the graphics looked like and i told them i can't be promoting misogynistic images of nude girls to a following that i know is a lot of young, impressionable people (like this guy did: https://www.instagram.com/p/DPE4Yb-gQKj/ ) but i think it's something that should be addressed. they had a graphic of a woman in bonds looking like she was getting r***d but they later pulled it from the site https://concrete-visionary.com/product-category/colours-collectiv/pro-decks/
