A-Star Heroes - Working progress - Page twenty-seven/twenty-eight

- These were the original sketches for pages twenty-seven and twenty-eight. What I wanted was the main heroes to be blown away by the power of this new monster, King Kalamari (purposefully misspelled calamari so that it would have two K's). While the male A-star Hero is preparing to fight the monster, the female hero swoops in and decides to fight the monster, one on one.

- After sketching the layout I decided to resketch the poses and composition of each panel. For sketching I drawn up some new rough poses and at that moment in time I copied some poses from previous pages I've worked on before as a place holder.

- I started with page twenty-eight because it had easy poses to draw, limited backgrounds that are either manga textures or 3D backgrounds converted to line art. While detailing the poses I found a crab claw online and I decided to convert the image to lineart.

- While completing this page I ended up reusing the pose from a previous page I've worked on and changed it around so that it would look different from the original pose I copied it from. At that time I found a really helpful texture pack on the Clip Studio Assets which makes creating brush stroke or even pen strokes easier, because it's a image set with different widths of pen strokes. During that time I ended up removing the pose for  the top left panel because I had a different idea.

- For the final panel I drawn up a really rough sketch of the bullied kid being wrapped by squid like tentacles. The reason why it looks so rough is because I drawn it as a detailed pose then binarized it, then cleaned it up enough so that the pose would read better.

- After completing that panel I toned, coloured and textured the top right panel. This is the final results of page twenty-eight.

- I got started working on page twenty-seven by starting with the backgrounds. Then I worked on the poses and designing the monster. While designing the monster I looked up squid like monsters from either sentai themed shows or real life depictions of squids and crabs.

- The bottom two panels have been completed, however after completing the panels I ended up changing the idea and the layout for the top panel.

- This is the idea for the top panel. I split the one panel into two and kept the poses for one panel and added a texture I mentioned before for the other panel. I copied the background from one panel and used screentones for the outlines to make it gray. For the poses I used the 3D model of a schoolgirl just so I can use the cloth physics for the skirt.

- After adding the faces, texturing and toning the shadows and wording each panel. I decided to experiment with the auto action for the sound effects, this adds a bit more flare and effects to the sound effects.
