Hey all.
So the last month has been a lot in the world, especially in Canada. My stance of "no politics on social media" has kinda... disintegrated in the face of my home country being under a degree of implicit and explicit threat.
There are no precedented times. The 2020s have been rather spectacular in their unprecedentedness though.
Still, the cats need their vet-grade hypoallergenic kibble, so the work goes on!
March saw the release of the third House Adamant novel, The Valkyrie Stratagem. It launched well, peaking in the top 250 on Amazon. Given how the market has shifted over the years and how the Zon marketplace (and the SF marketplace in general) have changed, I'm really pleased with how this series is going so far!
The next launch will be in May. That will be Seekers in the Void, a currently stand-alone (but with definite room for more books if it sells well) space adventure. It's definitely less military than most of my work and it was a fun space to play it. I hope everyone enjoys it - I'd like to return to this ship and characters!
What am I working on?
Right now, I am theoretically not working. Yes, this post is work. Yes, that says everything, doesn't it?
My schedule has a few days between finishing a book and starting the next one, and I finished The Lies Arcana, (Starship's Mage 17) on the 30th. So instead of working on a book, I have implemented the proofread for Seekers in the Void, gone back and forth a bunch with the audiobook narrator for the same, trading emails with the artist for the Void Spheres interior artwork, filing our taxes and... yeah. In theory I was supposed to catch up on the bookkeeping but that hasn't happened yet.
Over the weekend, I'll be putting together the outline for Regent's Mate, the fourth House Adamant (tentatively the last Lorraine book, though almost certainly not the last House Adamant book).
I'm also hoping to put together a Starship's Mage short story to attach to The Lies Arcana as a newsletter magnet. We'll see how that goes. If I succeed at that, you will see it here around when it goes live as a newsletter item.
Sometime in April I'll be posting a cover reveal for Seekers in the Void. The ARC should come around the beginning of May.
Happy reading all!
