Team Nessassity News - December Monthly Mod Report Episode 2 - You Get A Description And YOU Get A Description!

Week 2 of the December Monthly Mod Report is upon us! @.@ And there's no time for ado so let's get right to it!

Elves of Stellaris

So last week, I overachieved a little bit, putting me comfortably ahead of the schedule (well... the schedule is technically months behind schedule in the first place, but let's ignore that part!) which allowed me to take it easy this week. And um... I really wanted to, because Infinity Nikki had just come out around the same time and I'm obsessed with that game >.< But there's a lot of work still to be done, so I probably won't be able to take any more light loads for the remainder of December.

And what was the light load, you might ask? Well...

 ...mostly this.

As I did mention last week, all the new content - and huge swaths of the old stuff - required a lot of text. Localisation stuff is something i usually prefer to leave for the very end, but since the opportunity was there, and I could do it while doing unrelated things, I decided to try and handle the writing part ahead of time.

And as promised, I also went over many of the OLD (practically antediluvian by now) Lhùren-related descriptions, giving them not only spellchecking and grammar passes, but also rewording a few of them to flow better. Compare, for example:

d_elven_planetary_sentient_dragons_desc:0 "An enigmatic race of possibly reptilian origin inhabit this world. Communication is always initiated first by them and generally always in difficult to understand riddles. Over millenia wars and entire nations have been shaped by their cryptic advice. What drives their interest in us, their population, or where they even live have thus far completely eluded even the best of scientific minds. The only observable fact is that they exist.\n§GWill be converted when terraforming into an Ecumenopolis!§!"

And...

d_elven_planetary_sentient_dragons_desc:0 "Enigmatic entities manifest on this world of their own accord. Scarce instances of communication are always initiated by them, and tend to be one-sided; the true meaning of each interaction invariably eluding the recipients until the consequences are already upon them. Their exact nature, taxonomy, origins or what drives their interest in us, have thus far utterly baffled even the most experienced experts. The only observable fact is that they exist.\n§GWill be converted when terraforming into an Ecumenopolis!§!"

Past Princess wasn't good at writing fluff text... and Present Princess is still learning to, but I hope I have improved a little bit. At the very least, I'm managing to catch a lot more typos, weird punctuation and insanely long sentences that go on for ages, witnessing the rise and fall of civilisations across epochs charted by the formation and collapse of stars, than I used to.
Anyways, when you're experiencing the new Aurlûnor Velande playthrough, I want to make it as pleasant and easy to process as I can. And that includes not only the mechanics and early-game goals, but also these little tidbits of lore scattered throughout <3

Aaaaaand.... speaking of which, the infamously obtuse Celestial Favor mechanics are next! That will be the focus of the next week and the upcoming Episode 3 of the December MMR!
