Okay, okay, okay, memes aside, this probably requires a little elaboration SO FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I know how to start a post! Yay!

Team Nessassity

For the past couple of years, Team Nessassity has sort of existed in a bubble. We were uninterested in the wider modding community and semi-isolated even from our own users. As you may have noticed, we made it very difficult to contact us. Aside from Workshop and Twitter comments, we deliberately left as few avenues of contact as possible to avoid distractions, personal entanglements or getting dragged into third-party drama.

The reasons for that approach were many. Our bad experiences carried over from the modding "cultures" of the games we used to mod, combined with... honestly quite overwhelming popularity of our Stellaris mods (and, of course, the drama potential that came with it), made us hesitant to let anyone into our bubble.

While it did actually help us maintain focus, clarity of vision and quality of our mods... for a time, we have, over the past year, slowly come to the realisation that we'd also lost something important in the process.

Limited feedback from users made us lose sight of what they wanted to see in our mods, and limiting their ability to speak freely with us deprived us of outside perspectives that could steer us towards fresh ideas. As the result, I feel like our creative juices... dried up, our methodology stagnated and it became harder and harder to summon up the motivation to push out new updates. We're a far cry from the competitive pioneers always at the forefront of Stellaris modding innovation that we started as...
Once, we used to produce a steady flow of content, but I don't think I'm the only one who's noticed that these days we only release new updates when Paradox updates their games. Outside of those major releases, our development tends to... slow down to a crawl. If we can't draw inspiration from sources other than literally being forced to update our mods, what's going to happen if Stellaris stops releasing expansions? How many projects will just quietly die because we no longer have extrinsic milestones to look forward to?

Yes, that's a very scary thought... But I've been mulling over it in my head for a long time and I wanted to do something before it manifested into reality.

Even if it has to be something drastic like completely reinventing the way we interact with our community and potentially exposing ourselves to all the bad stuff we were afraid of, we have to change something before it's too late. We need a new renewable source of motivation and... I hope that source can be you! I hope that you can help us come up with new ideas, develop a better understanding of our community, expand our horizons and, who knows? Perhaps even help us grow Team Nessassity's roster in the process?

So... I guess the TL;DR of what I'm trying to say is: we are Team Nessassity and we refuse to fade into irrelevance through a slow and ignominious decline. We are abandoning our safe and stifling bubble of Inwards Perfection and rejoining the Galactic Community!

And we hope that with your help, we will see it reorganised into the FIRST. GALACTIC. EMP-

Oh... um... oops! Got a bit excited there for a moment! For now, let's just have have fun together on Discord and please look forward to more Team Nessassity news soon!

Ah... and speaking of, I did promise 2 months ago that this Monthly Mod Report would be focusing on Veiled Realms, but as you can see, it ended up taking a slightly different turn >.>
Between all of this excitement and the Paradox Paradox I'm currently experiencing with CK3 as Royal Court is looming on the horizon, I've failed make much progress on it, and I don't want to write a whole progress report on progress that hasn't been made. But next month, I hope I can have something exciting to share with you! Oh! And if you do join our discord, perhaps you might have an opportunity to take part in... a little community participation experiment I've been thinking of? ~_n

Until then, thank you for continuing to stick with us and helping our efforts. Going forward, we hope that we can do more to pay back for the support you've shown us! Thank you, and from now on, let's have fun playing Paradox games together!
