TXT is just that group. I listen to kpop, always have for as long as I can remember- having older siblings and an older cousin who has had access to Kpop helps lol.
But aside from BTS, no group has really had an impact, or stuck with me. So when Jin asked ARMYs to show their juniors support before they even debuted, I was like- okay Jin, for you, I'll check them out.
Their intro teasers were cute, a little quirky, the theories on the teasers of them with animals was hilarious, some actually wondering if they were going to be some sort of animorph group lol.
But surprisingly enough their first release- crown and really that first album wasn't bad. I liked a lot of songs on there. Over the years these guys have just gotten better. They take part in creating their music, they have the skills and the passion, and a lot of time you see skilled artists in kpop but most don't really have the passion or drive as well. For me, that's important.
Some people enjoy and freak over songs that just have a good or catchy hook, or a great chorus, or even just the beat. And that's fine, there's nothing wrong with being all about the 'it's a banger' type thing. Or even 'it's a vibe'. As someone who loves music so damn much and has grown up around that... not just the fact that being Indigenous, music is just a huge part in our culture, but also just because I personally am just one of those who is a music lover first and foremost.
I need substance, I need lyrics that mean something, a message, or for the passion and emotion of the artist to reflect in their lyrics and voices. If I don't get all that, then I'm most likely not going to listen to a song more than a few times at best. This is why I don't stan every Kpop group or soloist I've come across.
TXT is different, I gave them a chance like a lot of ARMYs did and they have only been proving they have that passion for music and performance, the same drive that BTS possesses. They make completely different music, but the passion for both music and performance is easily seen in both groups.
There are others like this too, and I'm starting to think Bang has a natural knack for choosing to buy companies that have artists who possess those two things, and for choosing young people who show they have those two things and taking them under his wing and helping them grow, and become amazing artists.
TXT is one such group. Not only is the music catchy but the lyrics are there- there's substance, they take part in the song writing and creative process so their able to understand the songs and show/convey the emotions as needed per song.
I look forward to their future projects.
Thanks so much for this reaction. I kind of rambled lol but you know me.
