2022-10-14 17:36:43 +0000 UTCMarkus Paolo Pe Benito is the one who choreographed this dance for Lie. Jimin is a fan of his work and BTS has had some other songs choreographed by him as well. Some consider Lie's choreography to be all contemporary and therefore very fitting for Jimin who's main stay area is contemporary, but he has some hip-hop background as well- mostly popping and locking which is part of why he's so damn good at body control. This dance is heavy /popping/locking/isolation with smooth ass contemporary elements. It's not just 'hip hop' and it's not just 'contemporary' It's a blend of some hip hop and some contemporary styling with charisma and elegance, sharpness and control that both those styles have but add in Jimin's own special something and this dance goes from Markus's choreo... which when he performs it, it goes all in on the pop and lock and he's somewhat smooth with contemporary bits... but Jimin takes those to new levels and adds in his own special something. The vibe he gives just escalates as the choreo goes on. Enough of me gushing over Jimin's dancing... because I could go on all day if time allowed... lol. But... this dance is also outside of the 'k-pop' realm when it comes to choreographies... but then.. a lot of BTS's choreos are not what you find in your everyday K-Pop... much like their music anyway so it's fitting lol.
