I recommend you to look up the songs JK participated in. He has the most writing credits out of the vocal line after the rapline. You can see that it matches his personality very well. It‘s not about showing off and belting crazy high notes, which he could easily do, but about delivering emotions based on the song’s theme and telling a story. I think many people have higher expectations of JK, because they know what he es capable of and think that he has to show it most of the time. On top of that, many people who have prejudice against pop music or aren’t fans of it, are often times dismissive or disappointed and criticize JK for his light approach regarding the vocals. I don‘t understand why people don‘t let him sing whatever he wants. If he likes to sing pop, then so it is. Then it‘s just not for you. On the contrary, I hate it when people box him solely in the pop category or say all his songs sound the same pop-ish. He showed with his songwriting and his solos that he is capable to handle different genres.

I don't remember where he talked about auditions before superstar K... that's the only audition we've seen him do. Most of the members don't actually have their Auditions with HYBE, previously BigHit Entertainment public. But I think JK mentioned it with that one k-interview they did, if I can find the link I'll link it. I'll make sure he talks about it there first. He was 15 at debut but considered 17 already, you're right about that. It tends to confuse people cause of translated videos where he says he came to Seoul at 15 to audition and he got in with BigHit ent. but he was younger than that because he's talking in Korean age. Also, he joined Bighit Ent in 2011, not 2010. So thank you for sharing that info.

2022-09-02 22:05:05 +0000 UTCJungkook is known as the king of covers, he's the member who does cover the most out of everyone, he has A LOT of them, we in the fandom have a saying where we say "Once Jungkook covers a song it becomes HIS song". Also, y'all gotta remember that JK has literally been in BTS basically his whole life, BangPD started looking for trainees in 2010 and JK debuted at 13 (15 is Korean age) and he's been a trainee since 2010 so technically he's been in the industry since like 11/12 yrs old. His members, ARMY, himself, and BTS are basically all he knows about life, so of course, he's going to talk about those things 24/7, you guys mentioned how you haven't really heard about his hardships, he's had a lot especially when it comes to the death threats/being stalked like that one time a crazy person put a camera in his toilet, or when these two guys followed him in the bathroom and took a picture of him without his permission, or when their old manager used to abuse and mistreat ONLY him. Or how he's literally not allowed to do anything he wants because people would judge him for it, he got death threats for getting piercings, tattoos, going out to eat, accidentally getting in a minor car accident, for SKIPPING stairs, for eating an apple, for the rainsism cover, and that's not even touching the surface 💀 JK has a song called Declamonia which actually talks about his hardships but he deleted it and didn't release it, I think JK probably just isn't the type to open up about how he's feeling, he's more of a listener/observer/comforter than he is a talker

I don’t hold JK to a different standard, I just haven’t be truly wowed from him on a solo song. All of my favorite JK moments are on group somgs , particularly On, Jamais Vu & the entire HYYH 🔥. Literally every other member has at least one solo song that moves me and that’s not a knock on JK just what I feel. My dislike for Bieber has been documented but at the end of the day good music is good music and JK makes a lot of it. Now as far as those V songs ,you and I are on the same page , I’m not gonna act like every solo song is Stigma or Singularity just because he’s my bias. The Brand New Day song was a true breath of fresh air from a lot of those dreary ballads. All in all V & JK are my favorite vocalists in the group and I can’t wait to hear what they got for us . 💜

I didn't know this was Adam Levine's song, but I'm sure I've heard the original in a movie before. Also, speaking of JK singing out of his comfort zone as Keith mentioned, his live from a few months ago, right after their festa dinner I believe. He sang a lot of older Korean songs, and man I tell you he belted some notes!

I just wanted more content and it felt as tho JK was held to a higher standard and that if you don’t like pop music you might not feel his sound 100%… this was great content and I love seeing how people feel about this subject.. appreciate you queen

I don't necessarily think that's wrong to say because it doesn't mean that what he's doing now isn't great. It's more like .... he's amazing and I know he can be even more amazing. I get that. I feel like Nick was trying to see if Lo is maybe holding him to a different standard compared to the other vocalists. He says he doesn't, and maybe he really doesn't, but it comes off that way. Tae found his lane. Lo likes that lane so maybe that's why he doesn't press it so much. I love Tae, I appreciate him and will support all of his projects....but truthfully, his style of music isn't for me. I'll buy and stream because I want to support him, but it's not my cup of tea. I could also say, okay Tae, I need something different because all of your songs are on the slow side, I need you to expand and do something different. But the thing is, that's what he likes. I want him to do what he likes. If he does something different, cool, but I won't expect it or hope for it. With Jimin, I love Lie. It's my fav out of his solos. He's my fav dancer, he's talented, charming.......but his songs aren't at the top of my list. I accept that our personal music tastes just aren't the same and although I'll always be excited and anticipate anything he puts out.....it just might not be my thing if any of his previous releases are anything to go by. So, all this to say, maybe it's not that JK needs to come out with something different or more, it's just that his style isn't your cup of tea, you have different tastes in music. Your personal playlists might not look anything alike. He likes JB's music, so that just might be his lane. He wrote Stay on the BE album, Your Eyes Tell....from what I remember Lo didn't like those. Not liking JK's music doesn't equate to not liking JK himself so I don't think you guys don't like him or anything like that. Also about him writing about what he's going through....maybe he doesn't want to. Not everyone likes to put themselves out there all the time and being vulnerable. I know I never ever wait for an upcoming western artists album and think to myself "I wonder what this is gonna be about". I do feel we tend to hold BTS to a different standard when it comes to that. So anyways, I think I get where Lo is coming from. I don't think he's truly trying to criticize JK. Nick, def get what you were trying to get at. Also wanted to add, during the BE album interviews (individual), JK said he wants to become an artist who can create various stories by creating imaginary scenarios and situations...so in other words, not his own experiences. The interviews are really good. During one of the compilation videos you watched the other day, it had a clip from this interview and Jerrick said he'd like to watch it. I think he’ll write more and produce more than you would expect. His album won’t come out until he thinks it’s perfect. Also V writes majority of his own solo songs he does get help with translating them into English because Most of them are English. I look forward to what the vocal line has planned for us. It looks like Jimin has a met with a lot of producers for his album so I can’t wait for that that. RM said he thinks he is album is 90% done and I am so curious to hear what it sounds like because his first two mixtapes were so different but sooo good.
