Another month gone by means another update for New Light. Let's get to it!
A lot, actually. Here’s the highlights of what you missed. If you want a whole breakdown of the month, check out the full timeline in the New Light Setting Guide.
May 9th: A fireteam led by Field Commander Bandit-3 delves into the newly discovered lost sector dubbed Veles Labyrinth. They find a powerful Hive inside, someone called The Hated, and flee before it can kill them.
May 9th: A fireteam patrolling the Meridian Bay runs into Zehln. PC Revenant-19 challenges Zehln to a 1v1 and wins. Zehln offers to talk for 15 minutes as his prize, and he takes it. He uses the time to try to convince her to stop fighting the Vanguard and to work alongside them instead. She is unconvinced.
May 10th: Another fireteam delves into the Veles Labyrinth and becomes lost. Listed as MIA.
May 12th: A rescue fireteam is sent to retrieve the MIA Guardians. They find the Veles Labyrinth empty of all Hive, but follow the tracks left by the Hive all the way back to Camp Northstorm, which is under attack. Though Guardians put up a good fight, the battle is lost, and Camp Northstorm falls to the Hive.
May 13th: Field Commander Bandit-3 attempts to talk Frigoris into helping the Vanguard fight for the Cosmodrome. Frigoris aggressively declines, saying its the end of all communication between them.
May 15th: Eris Morn puts out a bounty for the Ankh of Sai Mota. A fireteam takes up the bounty, kills the knight who has it, and brings it back to her. They encounter Toland the Shattered along the way back to Firebase Nula.
May 19th: Zehln encounters PC Revenant-19 in the Meridian Bay again. They engage in a Vex-killing contest. Revenant wins, so Zehln captures his Ghost and flees. Revenant-19 listed as MIA.
May 22nd: Eris Morn solicits a fireteam to retrieve the Urn of Sacrifice from the Hive. This is apparently a needed item to defeat Crota. The fireteam succeeds. Eris Morn now has all the ingredients she needs for…whatever it is she plans on doing.
May 31st: A fireteam led by PC Tryptolomy Plume goes on an unsanctioned mission to take back the Cosmodrome. With help from Kaen-5 and PC Garrison-3, he gets a goliath tank to the Cosmodrome and the fireteam proceeds to blow up lots of Hive on their way to their nest.
Things seemed doable at first (knights, ogres, acolytes, shriekers) but it becomes progressively more awful. More and more powerful Hive arrive to contest the fireteam: onslaught shriekers, damned thralls, multiple wizards, an executioner, A SIEGE ORGE—!!
Just as it seems hopeless, just as the siege ogre is firing up its version of a planet cracker weapon—
A CABAL DROP POD LANDS DIRECTLY ON ITS HEAD!
REVENANT-19 STUMBLES OUT OF THE POD!!
THEN FRIGORIS SHOWS UP IN HER SKIFF AND SHOT THE HELL OUT OF SOME HIVE!!!
The fireteam successfully reclaims Camp Northstorm :D
June 1st: Revenant-19 debriefs with Commander Zavala. Apparently, he was captured to save Zehln’s life from an assassination attempt. He thinks the Vanguard can use this to negotiate peace in the future.
June 2nd: Because of her assistance, and with encouragement from Field Commander Bandit-3, Frigoris negotiates a deal with the Vanguard: her family will claim a portion of the Cosmodrome as their own to build a home on. The Vanguard will rebuild their firebase nearby.
Frigoris calls the place New Riis.
The Cosmodrome is back! Guardians may return to patrolling the Cosmodrome as normal, both for downtime activities and in session. Tyra Karn is once again selling materials from the Cosmodrome, too.
Up on Luna, Bandit-3 needs Guardians for two new strikes: the Will of Crota and Summoning Pits. These are the last two missions before Crota’s end is nigh. Good luck, Guardians! Hope you’re ready to prove yourselves in some of the toughest combats yet.
