2022-06-26 06:28:54 +0000 UTCYeah I understood what Lo was talking about, and I do feel like this song would have some noise, but I don’t think it would be to the exact level of Step Back by Girls on Top. I think the main reason people were disappointed on Step Back was because it displayed girls fighting one another over a guy ala Brandy and Monica - That Boy is Mine (which I love both songs btw!!) which I do believe that topic itself is very dated to be honest. Very childish. And the fact that it was their debut song and people had this assumption that Girls on Top was a girl empowerment group, which they never said they were, but considering the immense talent and strong female idols in the group, I don’t see why you wouldn’t expect that. Overall the song still slaps, but yeah subject matter could’ve been better. But then again, there’s also the double standard that exists with females in the industry and just the political climate itself in Korea where particular men are targeting females that seem Feminist. Lol. It’s a whole thing.

2022-06-24 20:20:58 +0000 UTCYeah, I do try not to talk heavily about SM because of the issues, however that's the chairs and CEO. when it comes to production wise/music making, they do have really good producers. They also work with really good choreographers and they do have talented groups.. shit.. BOA is under SM and I adore her, I hate the company but not the talent within, that's something different. Sure, not every group makes music that I listen to.. but Girls Generation was one of the first Girl Groups in Kpop that I really liked. I was in my teens when this dropped, in high school and no one knew what the fuck I was listening to when I'd listen to this or earlier Girls Gen songs. This did drop in 2011. Girls Gen. or SNSD is still one of the top girl groups in K-pop. I remember when they performed this song on the morning show with Kelly Rippa, and they also performed it on Letterman, late night show. One of the first Kpop acts to ever appear on TV here in America. I liked this song, and I think because I was a teen when I listened to it, I don't see an issue with it... Um, but I'm only one person and I'm sure others might have an issue with it. But... it's music, it's art and I don't think things like that should matter. Yet... once again, people tend to think too deep into it. And people will find a problem with anything these days. But yeah, I love this song. reminds me of prom...since I blasted this in my car back then lol. Had people looking at me like I lost my mind. lol. Anyway, love the reaction and I think artists should be able to write about almost anything, it's artistic expression... well.. to a point. There is a line, but this song certainly don't cross it. I think this song is dated in general, but I do think it would still do well today because the Korean lyrics aren't really about attracting the opposite sex. If I remember correctly it's more about motivating people?

The fact that their early 2nd gen groups are still going strong today shows a lot. And fun fact: Sunny’s uncle is Lee Soo Man LOL. She’s superrrr talented and really funny too.
