Redemption Reacts to BTS (방탄소년단) MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA 'Persona' Comeback Trailer

Comments

yeah i mean if you see how many followers rm have in comparison to other member in social, you will see he is underrated especially since he is one of the main writers for bts. He is actually the member who write and contribute the most in bts

Helen H

Have fan in Vegas! Can't wait to heard about you experience!

laura zane

Please react to RM Monster :)

Anna

Yall i hope u start going into thw japanese songs bc jimin and jin eat it up all the time….

Ella MM

We love Joon! I know a lot of people may have things to say about him in the comments and get kind of defensive when he doesn’t get the praise they feel he deserves. Because for a long time him and Hobi were looked down on and got shit talked about them nonstop. Hobi seems to get so much love now and I’m so happy people get to see the sun like we do but sometimes it feels like Joon is still an afterthought. Joon is my bias and a lot of the time it feels like he gets overlooked in a way. Not saying you guys but as a whole, sometimes people just gloss over Joon and don’t look at him as a whole. Trivia love, Moonchild, and Seoul are my favorites from him. (PLEASE REACT TO A TRIVIA LOVE STAGE MIX 🥺) it’s not always the flow or beat but his lyrics are so powerful. They’ve helped so many people and have helped me through some rough shit in my life. People hear Joke and Do you and kind of get in this mindset that he’s that type of rapper, but fail to realize his style has changed as he has matured and got older. Glad you guys appreciate and love Joon. He is so multifaceted it’s hard to get a read on him. You gotta be in this Bangtan shit deep to see all the different sides to him. Long story short, love this video can’t wait to see more!

Kitty

Such a chill bop

Tay Tay

was just playing Seoul on my way to work.

Erica

I watched this V-live and I was so impressed. RM was so thoughtful and articulate, and what he said really resonated with me.

Frances

Jerrick not a RM fan?

Tri

@Laura I agree. I'm glad he spoke his truth. Loved his words about their relationship with ARMY too. I truly was amazed by his vision, his maturity and awareness, as always.

Irina BM

Thank you for this, I agree wholeheartedly.

Tri

omg you summed this up perfectly!!

Alisha 3

i really truly love that he spoke about this and let us know his thoughts on the situation. Thank you for typing all of it out. He is so wise and aware of everything, it blows my mind every single time!

laura

One of my favorite solo songs from him and solos in general amongst the members and I’m so glad y’all reacted it too it. It’s a masterpiece and his flow and cadence on this track is top tier, I also really love the old school HipHop vibe with the guitar in the background as well, such a unique combination. I know a lot of ppl in the comments are telling u how underrated he is but I PERSONALLY don’t think he’s underrated but still kinda under appreciated within the fandom and I’ve been an army since 2015 and Namjoon has been my bias since forever so I’ve seen the way the fandom reacts to him in during these years of me being an army. It seems the fandom only tends to hype him up when it comes down to him being the spokesperson of the group or when he’s working out or showing off his physique, his main rapper position is often over looked and while the fandom acknowledges that he is the main songwriter of the group, some get pissed when u tell them that he has written most of bts music(which is true) or the most recent I’ve been seeing is some fans making fun of lyrics because they simply can’t understand his lyricism and wordplay. He’s slowly getting his credit within the fandom but we still have quite some time to go. I also agree with a comment saying he doesn’t get to fully showcase what he’s capable of in group songs compared to Suga and Hope that’s probably why y’all preferred their verses over his when y’all first started reacting to them and that’s totally understandable. Anyways, I hope u guys can check out his first mixtape from 2015 titled “RM” which is the more aggressive hard hitting mixtape with a lot of rapping, and then Mono which is pretty much sing-rapping indie type vibe, very calm and a different vibe from his first mixtape. I’d also recommend Unpack your bags - https://youtu.be/dbCdvYga5Xw which is a song from 2014 that follows the theme of him speaking on his fellow peers and the haters from underground who constantly shifted on him as well as him addressing the idol life. Too Much - https://youtu.be/Cbm83JWIX_A which is pre debut track from 2013 that straight forwardly addresses the pain and hurt Namjoon felt after debuting as an idol and having his “friends” and the underground scene make fun of him for continuing on with bts. This in my opinion is his most rawest song to date. P.S. he said he regretted this song years later. Illest B - https://youtu.be/rFf-sxiJVss a cover song he did of Walé’s song illest b and Walé actually heard his cover and this how he got in contact with Namjoon to make Change lol.

Kamiah

I love Namjoon 🥺💜 definitely deserves all his flowers 💐

Pao

I see all these comments talking about Namjoon getting overlooked and idk if they mean by you guys, or just in general.....but it kind of surprises me because from my experience he gets so much love and respect in masses. Maybe it depends on who you follow? I must follow the right people because I see an overflow of love and admiration daily. Also, I'm sure you're getting requests for Mono, which is an absolute masterpiece. It's a whole vibe, soup for the soul if you will. At the time, Namjoon was going through it, this was his way of releasing it all. Honestly, Mono is therapeutic.

Jenn Diaz

I think they reacted to Ddaeng a while back.

Jenn Diaz

Thank you for RM appreciation 😍😍😍🙏

Rosan

that's our leader Kim Namjoon, I love on "Map of the soul Outro: Persona" he show off his rapping skills, his cadence and swag is something always so enjoyable, thank you guys for the reaction!

Kharys A

Yess, we love to see the Joon appreciation! Of course it's natural for everyone to have favorites and resonate with different members for different things, so there's no love lost bc of that, but still seeing everyone get their flowers is always satisfying. The change in air after J-hope night was powerful, and completely understandable lmao. Nick I want to commend you truly for being so in tune and dedicated to go back and look over things in this way, that shows some great leadership and thoughtfulness for these things to be on your mind. Obviously not taking away from anyone else by saying that, it's just one of the many reasons that prove your outstanding leadership and compassion. Coincidentally, I find it very similar to the way Joon presents himself and cements his position. I know you guys have gone through some of his work and know what he's capable of, but I'm glad you guys finally gave Cheyenne (please tell me if I'm spelling her name properly!!) a taste of Joon's talent and what Bang PD saw that had him decide to build a monster group around him. Can't wait to see more reactions!

Kenny

I saw you guys talking about the Joe Budden situation on Yt. Sorry in advance for the long comment, it's unrelated to this song (which is fire), though it's about RM, and I thought it would be interesting for you guys to know what he said in his last Vlive about the haters, and what's their mindset in the future. It's the first time a BTS member addressed something as forwardly about the haters to the fans (except in their songs): "Just like the love you guys give us, to be honest, there have always been people who dislike us. They've always existed. We might be at fault for that, maybe... but often times, that's not the case. There have always been people who hate us. After all, there can't possibly be a team of people who are loved by everyone. The fact that there are people in America who hate us means that we've risen to become part of the mainstream, really, which is actually a good thing. So, especially since it's so taxing for ARMYs when it comes to responding to each and every thing and negative energy, I want to say that there is no need to care so much about such negativity. Moreover, that's what those people want. They want to attract attention. So I ask that you please don't give too much care to those people as it's also a waste of energy to respond to such things. When it comes to disliking someone, well. For me, I'm not sure. Maybe I could express my thoughts through music, or just. I said this earlier (during the concert) too, I'd probably just talk about it once with my friends and that would be it. We might talk among ourselves like, "I'm not a fan of so-and-so," "Ahh, I thought that too, I don't really like them" and that'd be the end of it. But choosing to go to such lengths to express your dislike of someone publicly, that's... People who do such a thing aren't the kind of people who would be able to get along with me. I just think it's very uncool. And also... It's actually really easy to hate someone. Saying things like, "Bleh! I saw these guys today, but they suck! They're weird!" is easy. But if you reply under people like them, they enjoy it. So not responding to such hate would be better, for the sake of our own mental health as well. We've always been at the position of underdogs. We've always... how should I say this. We've always been the kind of group that people didn't put a lot of bets on. *laughs* But truly, we were able to come this far thanks to the power of each and every one of you combined. We're just doing what we have always done. I mean, when did we ever do anything to get acknowledgement from anyone? It's not like people acknowledged us then, either. We make something meaningful and share it with people, whether it be through music or concerts. That's the reason why we started doing this. We wish to keep our energy focused on that reason. I also personally don't check people's reactions online as much as I used to before. So... yeah. I think I'll continue to not talk about any of those kinds of things in the future. I want to use that time to focus on personal development and work on becoming a better person. That's all. Anyway, I hope you keep that in mind. We're going to work even harder. They say there's only a hair's difference between a "fan" and an "anti". Sometimes antis, or haters, know more information than fans do, *laughs* since hating something also takes a great deal of energy. So, well. If we just keep working and do our thing, they might become our fans, who knows. If that happens, great, and if not, it's whatever. I talked about this with the members too. In terms of what's to come from now on, I've been thinking—actually, these days, what I've been thinking about continuously is that we should put ourselves back to the starting point of our journey. And get more actively involved in our album-making process & speak our voices. I'm almost 30 now. I've been having a lot of thoughts on my mind about how to carry on forward. I suppose I should probably talk more about this and that, since I might be the sole person thinking this way. I'm going to keep thinking about the things I can do and keep doing more... *sighs* I'll be working hard." Hopefully ARMY will not give too much attention to the haters and trolls online just like RM said. We're better than them.

Irina BM

Yes please! Appreciate it <3

Tri

Thank you, Looking forward to more RM content and would be good if you reviewed his RM mixtape in one session and then Mono mixtape back to back in a session (especially because this is a journey) like you did for Suga and Jhope. Nobody waiting till September for his bday lol! You can do it a second time in September lol! He will hopefully have a new mixtape out by then! STARVING for new music from RM.

Tri

He's my wrecker also 😍 love this song thanks for the reaction, im having post concert depression 😩 it was lit, I can't wait for you guys to enjoy the concert. Have fun and stay safe. 💜💜

Suncedars Hul

Please react to G-idol "My bag" PERFORMANCE thank you♡

Ayomipe Bamikole

Namjoon is amazing can't wait for you guys to react to his mono mixtape but first you have to react to the rap song ddaeng you will hear a different kind of flow of his that will blow your mind he goes last and he just goes off also we need a full house for that song because it's arguably the best rapline song right there with the cyphers it's only problem is that it's for free. Army actually asked bighit to put it on Spotify so we can trend the song but it was a gift to army so they ignored us it's THAT GOOD

Eman Omer

Bro, react to his first mixtape!!! That's all i have to say. Very very underrated.

Why don’t you guys just react to Mono by RM? Lol. He has like 7 songs on that album and it came out in 2018. Seoul, Moonchild, and Tokyo are bops. Forever Rain also has a music video lol. We need more love for Namjoon! He also has a mixtape as well with AMAZING songs on there. You can find it on SoundCloud.

RM has done solo intro's before in older albums, they honestly all are so damn impressive. They actually have an order on things like intros, outros, and mix tape releases. But I'll cover that some other time- Intro: Persona is the kick off to Map Of The Soul series. The name of the album comes from Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung's psychology theory. He had an archetype theory that played into this whole theory of the map of the soul. Jung had notebook after notebook of his findings. He jotted down his own journey to his individuation and his own theories and findings were coined as Jungian theory. The map of the soul is a key in Jungian theory. Dr. Murray Stein was one such person and psychologist who heavily studied Jungian theory and put together Jung's notes in a way that was a bit easier to understand. The book he published is the book that RM read and drew inspiration from for this album- The Map of the soul. When ARMY found this out, book sales flew up across the globe. So much so, that Dr. Murray Stein took notice, a group of Psycology ARMYs reached out and thanked him, this peaked his interest. He learned of BTS's album and when it was released, he did a listen and review of the songs with ARMYs. He was so pleased to see a musical group pulling inspiration from such things as books on psychology and even touching on mental health and wanting to promote the path to individuation, or learning ones true self. Dr. Stein to this day is a supporter of BTS and at the request of ARMYs and with proper permission has released books that take a deeper dive into BTS music and how it helps people and how he believes our talented BTS are quite intelligent and possibly more self aware than anyone else in their age bracket. Dr. Stein does podcasts and talks with many people, but BTS really impressed him . In persona- Which in Jungian theory is our mask. It's what we put on to the world, the us we show others, the public. Sometimes we mistake this for the real us, but it's not, this is just the us that we are when we're in public, we behave a certain way etc. So, in this intro. RM asks a lot of questions as he is at the beginning of his self journey. "Who the hell am I?" This is the main question he kicks off with and repeats in the song. I really do recommend watching DKDKTV's explaination for this video, as they give a good run down. But RM mentions another part of our 'soul'- Our Shadow- which in Jungian theory is all the dark parts of us. Including behaviors we are told are not acceptable in society. The chalkboard is filled with Jungian theory things- like Ego, which is another part of us as well. It's all very interesting, and some do struggle with reading The Map Of The Soul, it's not an easy read by any means, but it's really very interesting if you can manage to get through it. I'm going to stop there, because honestly.. Jungian theory is a whole ass rabbit hole on its own and my brain is not on par with that right now lol. Joon is a genius, it really is as JK has said- Namjoon has a lot to be admired for, if you're ARMY, you know that. It's why he's the leader, why he has the right to be. I also want to correct Nick- Heart you, but Tae was talking about RM singing on Tae and RM's duet song- 4 O'clock. Tae wanted Joon to sing because Tae thought ARMYs really would love to hear Joon actually sing. Also, another correction- 'Do You' was not filmed or written while he was in the US, it's on his first Mixtape from 2015. He'd worked on a lot of those songs pre-debut and in 2013 when they were struggling and getting insulted by their peers. Okay, now I shut up and go watch more to post more long comments lol. Thank you guys so much for the content drop. 💜💜💜

ARMYnotArmy

Bruh yess, Namjoon needs more appreciation. He is my wrecker and I swear he does not receive enough love for how hard he works.

Madison

I freaking love this live perfomance!! He killed it

Hannah

Also on your point about RM not getting to shine on tracks I agree and RM acknowledged this aswell he said that sometimes because he writes the whole track he feels like he used his best words/lines already by the time he has to write his rap - whereas others get to focus fully on their verses etc. He has to juggle alot and he definitely holds himself back and doesn't mind giving himself the least lines eventhough he wrote the whole thing. He doesn't put himself forward alot and people forget him. You see his freedom and cadence more in his solos where he allows to let himself shine fully. He can body any BTS track but he chills on them and let the others do their thing. I wish he went aggressive in BTS songs like other rappers but he knows he bad he don't need to ;)

Tri

I'm glad you read the room because I agree - RM doesn't get a lot of love AT ALL. He gets skipped over - his solos and music get's ignored in comparisons to the other rappers. I actually got excited like DAMNN YOU GUYS DOING RM??? It always feels like yh we know he's good and holds the group down but we don't need to talk about it but you absolutely should talk about him and give him his praise because the discography you guys love so much is all on him from the vocal line songs to the solos like Singularity by V and Euphoria by JK etc it's all written by RM and I think people take him for granted that he is the pillar of the group and never really give him his shine. This is why I like watching the Rise of Bangtan with you guys because it seems like it's the only time he is acknowledged when it's spelled out in the video how hard he works for the group and what he goes through and shields the group from to make sure they succeed. All that being said please react to more RM solos and collabs and acknowledge his lyricism because he's talented and the Main Rapper for a reason. Please react to his first mixtape RM and then his songs from Mono. RM is hip hop through and through.

Tri

The live performance for this is top tier. He performed it live for MMA19.

Kay

Persona,Do you, moonchild and Trivia承:Love are my favorite RM tracks 💜💜

HopeNicole_ Btsarmy

Yeah especially me being a RM stan I’ve notice that y’all really only like Jhope and suga parts. RM is definitely an old school rapper type. Each member has their own style of rapping so that’s why they are the perfect combination rapline. So I got excited when I got this notification. Y’all should react to Monster by RM it’s really good.

Janeesa Ramsey

Great reaction guys I loved it this the one I been waiting on RM snapped loved yall discussion at the end please react to RM Seoul, RM Moonchild, & RM Forever Rain they are some great tracks 😊💜🙏

Lexi

Persona is great! thanks. Personally when it comes to mixtapes namjoon has my fave, mono is a masterpiece, is not hard rap but when it comes to confort is my go mixtape. Is very popular in the fandom and shows the grown from am angry teen to a reflective young men. Hope you have time to listen to it! It might not be your taste though? But I love it!

laura zane

Of course Jerrick was like "RM Solo? Nahhh". :p kidding <3

Chelsea

Love the discussion, thank you. Nick, glad you brought up the RM appreciation/sometimes lack there of. They're all amazingly talented and it's nice to see how they shine when you guys check out their individual stuff. Hope to see mono soon. I am so curious to see what you all think of that project as it is really personal to so many of us and has still me in a chokehold years later lol. Your trip is almost here and I'm so so excited for you all. Have the BEST time and please try to soak it all in. XO💜

Jade Escobar

I know a veteran ARMY can provide more detail but Map of the Soul 7 on based off of Carl Jung's Map of the Soul. RM 's song is about the persona, Suga's is about the shadow and J Hope's is about the ego. I believe the Carl Jung theme stated with Map of the Soul Persona album and is continued with MOTS7. I love the deep messages in their music.

Kem Johnson

I agree totally!

Kem Johnson

I watch on my lunch break too lol!

Kem Johnson

I'm so glad you did this RM masterpiece! I can't wait for you guys to check out the solo work, especially RM's two mixtapes, respectfully titled RM (1st mixtape) and Mono (2nd mixtape). You talking two totally different vibes coming from RM. That is why he is one of my Biases. V is the other bias and the rest are wreckers! Can't wait and hope to see you guys in Las Vegas!💜
