YG doesn't hold ex-artist up like that though. When they leave they don't block them from using their stage names and such. YG doesn't even require trainees to payback trainee debts. YG is one of the companies that have the highest payouts.

copyright laws used to be like how Keith was talking about. YG copyrighted all of blackpinks stuff, including their names and their faces to the point where kpop idol vloggers would hang out with LISA but couldn't say that they were hanging out with her and had to blur out her face. Idol contracts also used to be 14 years old for SM ent but now idol contracts cant be longer than 7 years bc of TVXQ lawsuit against SM. Without the copyright laws being changed literally right before GOT7 leaving JYP, the company would keep the rights to everything including group name and member names even if they used their own name and not a stage name.

Big Bang definitely set the tone for YG the same way Shinee did for SM for sure. 2NE1 had so much more potential but it’s hard staying with a company that doesn’t really help as much so I’m happy for black pink and treasure’s success but they shouldn’t forget about the groups that made them (ikon and big bang)

YG isn’t the best or the worst company I think what messed it up essentially was the leadership and promotion of groups. They have some of the most talented and unique people in kpop for sure but idk it’s hard. I wish there was a video on Cube they are literally horrible idk who’s worse. They lost Hyuna, Dawn, Soojin (idle), and probably even more artists. The industry is pretty rough 😭Honestly if I ever debuted I’d probably go to Pnation or Bighit.

I’ve been saying that too! I also miss BTS’ older songs. I’m an EXO-L, but I did appreciate a lot of tracks from BTS 🔥

I really think it's personal preference too. I am not into bts or Blackpink but i know that they are really big and probably the biggest groups out right now. I will never discredit them just because i am not that into them. I don't dislike them either, i just prefer other groups.
I used to love YG and everything YG. I think i liked everyone in the company but after what happened with Bigbang, 2NE1 and B.I from Ikon (ikon too obviously) i just didn't care that much for YG anymore. I think they went about things the wrong way and it bit them in the ass. I am glad Blackpink, Treasure, Ikon and Winner are still popular but i wish they would all just leave YG and find somewhere else where they will be appreciated more. Same with Bigbang!
Either way, Bigbang are the kings of kpop. They are our idols idol. Even if they are not as big as bts or blackpink, they are still the kings of kpop. That's not just my opinion, That's a fact :) I am sure there are other in-depth videos on youtube if you guys want to know more. I know InternetsNathan does have another video on Bigbang, on Taeyang from bigbang and on GD.

Also in regards to the Burning sun scandal and a few others after that, it is a very complicated topic, I was on Twitter when it broke out and it was really hard to keep up with new information and not knowing what was real and what was made up by the media which lead to a ton of information and misinformation, this is why today I noticed that the majority of people who understand the scandals in YG especially surrounding Seungri are VIPs (bigbang fans), some even went as far as learning about Korean law and digging up Instagram posts that match dates to confirm or debunk media statements 😭💀 while outsiders tend to not know the full details or rely on misinformation from the media.

Also from what is reported, on resign YG artist get some of the best cuts in the industry. And business in Korea is done on a very cultural level.

Nathan didn't add it in but Teddy was apart of 1TYM. Checkout the Leaders it has Teddy CL and GD.
Also YG has multiple arms. Last big deal signed is that YGK Plus distributes and makes all of Hybe artist albums. YG owns the copyright to their artist group name. Unless they authorize it the name cannot be used. Look it into the group Beast now know as Highlight from Cube entertainment

BIGBANG is THAT group, they inspired so many new Kpop groups and set up trends in Kpop that some new fans don’t even know about, two example are the first lightstick and idols producing and writing their own music.
