As others have mentioned- I too recommend watching the 'Spine Breaker' Explained by a Korean from DKDKTV. I also normally would recomend watching the MV BTS made... but that was a Run episode, and you'll get to it soon. You'll see how they made it while in their hotel while on tour- Jin, our lovely Worldwide Handsome came up with the choreo, which J-Hope likes to remind people that Jin did in fact choreograph it. It's so great, and you'll see it at some point I'm sure. The Live version from 5th Muster is good too, which someone already left that link to that one. Anyway- As someone also explained, In Korea- padding Jackets were the example primarily used here. At that time that was the thing that had kids fighting each other in school, and had parents overworked because they wanted to provide all they could for their children. Of course, like I said, the song is layered- as most BTS songs are. So this isn't just about the youth being too greedy or people working too hard just so their kids can fit in at school. There was more I was going to say, and my brain just blanked so I'll end it here. lol. Thanks for the great content, take care and don't work too hard.💜

2022-03-23 01:03:49 +0000 UTCI have to say that I love JK's back-up vocals on this song...each time I heard "Spine Breaker" I can't avoid remember the famous mv the guys themselves made and produce from this song lol, was shooting on their hotel in Chile during the "Wings Tour", on a very BTS style the whole mv is very funny and meme material and Jin choreography the song lol, I remember back then I was on Chile for their concert there back then.... what a memories 😄, I like the reaction guys, the lyrics on "Spine Breaker" is a slap in the face of those kids and teenagers whose only live from their appearance, money, clothes, banality stuffs and made their parents have a hard time due of it, is a raw critique of the materialistic society we sadly live in.

One of the craziest trend over there is the padded jacket, everyone used to wear it at school which could cause social division and a lot of bullying among students in SK. It's supposed to be a fun diss track for the young generation who absolutely want to wear trendy and expensive clothes when they can't afford to pay them. So they ask/beg their parents to buy it for them, who overwork themselves to get them those "dirty" clothes. But yeah, there's an explanation vid about it. I love this song so much, it sounds very old school. BTS did a self-made MV and choreo for that song which is very funny, you should check it out. They created and directed the MV from scratch. 2022-03-22 23:04:31 +0000 UTCOne very important thing to note, especially because you guys pointed out the deeper notes, is that this color coded did not showcase the lines of the chorus properly. V wasn't the only one doing the chorus even though it's easy to default to thinking that and get wrong because he is the baritone of the group. Jin and V actually share those lines. Jin's lower register can get pretty deep as well, not as deep as V's naturally ofc, which is why on a few listens you'll be able to tell the difference between the two. Def a west coast vibe from it, very much Dr. Dre was what I thought on the first listen as well. I love this song, both the sound and the meaning of lyrics. From the very first time I heard it it was cemented in my constant self-induced argument about my top 10 BTS songs lmao. That's a hard ass list to compile and it never works out but it's fun to think about, and Spine Breaker is always up there for me.
