Red Lantern - Windrose through Chapter 14

This will catch you up halfway through Chapter 14 of Red Lantern - Windrose. Chapter 14 is looking to be a long one, being as it encompasses several scenes. I will probably do a break and POV shift to Amon midway through, but we're not quite to that point yet.

Also, we are almost at the 40k mark, which means we're about halfway through book 1! Honestly given the difference in structure for this novel series, I'm very happy with my progress. I was worried it would be slower going at first.

I know everyone is really waiting for the point where the story progresses past what you've already read, but I would encourage you to give the novelization a read even if you're caught up on the comic. There have been significant additions to dialogue, even some changes, and whole added scenes and chapters.

As always, let me know what you think! <3

So first, overall, love this story. Love the depth that's being added. Love the multiple perspectives. Especially Dhaval. Looking forward to how he and Amon continue to bond in such a complex and confusing situation, and how under the circumstances what would be abuse can be interpreted as an act of guardianship and protection. As for what I see differently, the biggest thing is Serwich. All of these men have committed what would easily be considered atrocities. Grayson murdered what, twenty people to protect one. Luther has done much more in the name of keeping the seas safe and his duty. They all understand that sometimes you have to do something bad, to prevent something worse. That doesn't mean there wouldn't be remorse. But it would be resolutely justified under the circumstances. That was done in Between Wind And Water. This is before then, so maybe it will come later. Perhaps Grayson's struggles are really his working through the last barriers of understanding he's in love with Luther. It might sound ruthless, but on Serwich I'm one hundred percent with Luther. Somebody's trying to make a meal out of my boyfriend, and I'd make a few thousand omelettes and not even blink. I've personally never regretted protecting anyone. I have regretted being too civilized, too morally developed, that I didn't stand up. The Cathazra forced the situation by not allowing the colonist to withdraw. They wanted vengeance in blood. It's pretty much the old saying, "If you want to find the violence a man is capable of, give him no avenue of retreat." That's what they did. That's what they got. I will never fault anyone for protecting their love.

This seems like the right post to suggest this.... 1. Loving Windrose. My only complaint is having to wait, but that's because I'm impatient and hate the many cliffs I'm hanging on right now. Chomping at the bit for more! 2. I'd LOVE some, even brief stories about support characters, the women in particular. Ishaya, Shaan, Lotus (who I realize might be coming back up), Reynolds... They're all so interesting to me, and if there is some kind of backstory already built out, I assume (like an ass) these might be easier to throw down. I'm sure there are dozens of other characters that people might recommend, but these are the ones that come to mind for me.

I am LOVING the novelization so far! Getting to see all the scenes in more depth, and the additions - it’s all been excellent and I love this format for the story. It’s especially great to know more of what each character is thinking in the scenes. So excited for more <3
