I went a bit musically dark this month. Hahaha! Here's September's Patreon-voted cover for Daughter of the Sea from World of Warcraft.
This song took me by surprise. I originally planned to approach the arrangement like I usually do, with tons of vocals and layers, etc. But when I started practicing the song just with guitar and a lead vocal--without embellishments--it made the lyrics truly sink in for the first time and I was deeply moved.
I found myself taking on the challenge of finding a way to retain the build and emotional dynamics of the song with just the lead vocal performance and accompanying guitar.
Cristy and I filmed the video in a single take, camera handheld, and it was such a nice, refreshing thing to try.
