Minerva's Water Works (Minerva Mink Weight Gain/Expansion Fic)

Minerva Mink had handfuls of tissue paper firmly clenched in her grip. Her crow’s eye grew stronger the harder her mascara ran. She hadn’t been able to stop crying as her chest rose and deflated while her friend Slappy Squirrel rubbed her back, her face twisted into a permanent scowl despite the chill she felt for her petite pitiful pal. Thankfully, the few people strolling through the carnival today were quick to bolt past the pair as nobody wanted to be around them for long when the smell of hot dogs and cotton candy was strong thanks to the vendors nearby.

“Aw, hon, ya gotta lighten up at some point or anotha’!” Slappy brought her hands to her large green sun hat when she lifted it off her head and set it atop Minerva’s, shading her tears from the rest of the world. “You ain’t the first girl to get screwed over because your reboot flopped after a couple of years. Heck, I heard you did pretty good considering you got more than two seasons!”

The lump that clogged Minerva’s throat shriveled as she gasped profusely between sobs. She couldn’t think, much less speak, but Slappy’s warm presence brought her back from wanting to jump onto the screeching roller coaster course several feet away from her. Tears strolled down her cheeks before Slappy wiped them away at once. Her grayed knuckles got a smidge of mascara on them, but she didn’t mind if it meant Minerva got a little quieter.

“Slappy,” Minerva choked, “I wasn’t… in the reboot… the suits said I’m too sexy to be on streaming!!”

Once again, Minerva’s chest throbbed as she buried her face into her hands, unable to steady herself. Fire danced underneath her skin when Slappy rubbed her hand against the back of her neck before bringing her to her shoulder.

“Well, look at it this way: you might be too hot for Hulu, but who’s to say that’s as high as the bar will go, huh?” Slappy shrugged. 

“What else is, ugh, h-higher than mainstream media?” Minerva sniffled. “Is it… Max?”

“Oh, GOD no! If that were the case, that reboot wouldn’t have lasted more than one season, let me tell ya.”
