“Do you need me to finish getting undressed?” Marshal smirked.

Jesse popped his shoulders as he returned to reality before stepping backwards, stumbling over his words. He crawled up the next few steps when he took a deep breath and vanquished the stiffness in his chest once and for all.

“I-I’ll get it started while I still can,” Jesse turned on his heel and sprinted up the stairs as fast as his trembling legs could carry him. By the time he reached the door to his room, he threw it open with a squeal then closed it shut by kicking it.
