It all started out great. Scratching that itch that had bothered Sofi for years. Every day a new city. New sights to see, new places to go. The bus would arrive in the early morning, she would do a sound check at the venue, then have several hours free before playing in the evening then getting on the bus to travel to the next town while she slept. The jostling of the bus took a bit of getting used to on her first few nights but she quickly acclimated.
Sofi’s shows seemingly increased in popularity as she went. Playing her piano and singing, or dancing as she was backed by a band. Fans filled the halls and jumped at the chance to get her autograph. They started noticing her whenever she would go to a new restaurant in every town. Camping out at the best and most interesting ones. She wanted to make time for them all, but by the time she was done, it’d be time to head back to the venue, let alone eat.
As the tour progressed, this became the norm rather than the exception. Stuck in the bus, food delivered instead of explored. Cold and soggy.
Every parking lot was the same, and most venues were built to similar standards, which was great for her team, but left a lot to be desired in her need for adventure. She’d arrive by night, be busy during the day, and leave again by night. Over and over.
Despite their regular nightly video calls, Sofi started to really miss her family. They kept things new and interesting in ways she had never considered. And she wouldn’t, couldn’t, be with them for a long time yet.
