February 26, 2018 - (6 days after #108, 36 weeks into Susan's pregnancy)

Susan’s sleepy brain only had one thing in mind, milk. She didn’t know why, but this late into the night, she didn’t question it. Letting the desires of her pregnant body take hold, she got up slowly from the bed. Susan’s feet were complaining, but she struggled on. Moving past the moving boxes, using the wall as support until she landed in the kitchen. She pulled open the fridge and was immediately blinded. Instead of covering her eyes, she closed one and left the other open just far enough to be able to make out the carton of milk sitting inside. Susan picked it up and rejoiced when she realized it was more than half-full. She brought it to her lips and gulped down the divine liquid.

Even before her pregnancy, she had moments where she woke up feeling dehydrated and performing a similar routine. But that was nothing compared to the cravings of a woman carrying septuplets. With each week, Susan visited the midnight fridge at least once. Nathan dared to match her cravings, stocking the fridge up with unorthodox food that neither of them ate. Until one morning it disappeared, and Nathan knew all he needed to know.

With a soft moan Susan put the carton back before wiping her chin dry. There wasn’t much left for morning cereal, but Nathan knew the risks of living with an extremely hungry and pregnant wife. He would have to make due.

She waddled her way back to the bed, sitting back the exact same way she got up. With how far her belly had grown, there was no way she could crawl into position. Eventually she nestled back into position. Embraced by the warm fabric she inhabited before her expedition. Only minutes passed before Susan drifted right back to sleep.
