Homefront KAL - Post Two

If the embedded video isn't working for you, try this link: https://vimeo.com/661310561/6e39afeda7

Hello dear students, and Happy New Year's Eve!

Here we are with the next chapter of our Homefront knit along. How are your jumpers going?! Recently, I've seen some *amazing* and creative designs that you all are embarking on. I couldn't be more proud! This is exactly what I was hoping for: that you would use this pattern as your canvas to design a unique addition to your knit wardrobe. Well done, you!

This time, we are chatting about waist increases, side shaping, and the underarm bind off. You probably never thought someone could spend 6 minutes talking about binding off stitches at the underarm.... today, I prove you wrong. :) I hope the information in this video is helpful in plotting out where to place your increases, and how many stitches to bind off! This video is particularly information heavy, so if you'd like to run any numbers by me, feel free to do so.

The yarn I'm using for the KAL is Wildstar Fibers in the color Honey, Honey. Her yarn is a joy to work with, and the galaxy twist yarn base is extraordinary (this is not sponsored; I sincerely adore it)! The design I'm using for the body is from a British 1940s jumper pattern I found here. It is a LOT of bobbles, but I think the result is going to be stunning!

What are you planning for the body of your jumper? Feel free to share in the comments below!

Thank you all so much for joining in on the fun. The [optional] homework for next time is to get up to & complete the underarm bind off. The next post is slated for the end of January, so you have some time to work on the body. As an aside, the set in sleeve video is coming, so keep an eye out for that in early January. Thank you for your patience with it!

Happy knitting & Happy New Year everybody! I will see you all tomorrow for the new Squid School pattern-- I think you're going to love it!

xoxo

This is a great pattern to try out colorwork! You got this, Atena!! :)

Heck yes you get a pattern next month! It's one I'm really excited for too-- I have been planning it out for months! :)

Wow, I kinda assumed there would be no other patterns while the KAL was happening. You've given us a content rich December, and now I get to be excited for tomorrow! Also, the bobbles look incredible.

The body of my first jumper will be solid so that I can get the hang of it. I do have a second yarn that I am waiting to come in so that I can use it with a left over color. That will be the stripped version. I'm hoping that my confidence with the pattern will be strong enough after those two to try some colorwork!
