The first annual Resties Awards is here!
Another awards show? Yes! We wanted to create an annual tradition that matches the current state of video games: a constantly changing collision of creative art, corporate drama, and chaotic discourse. So for the Resties Awards, Frushtick and Plante will concoct a new collection of categories every year.
That's right: entirely new awards every year!
For our first Resties Awards, categories include “The Award for Most Unexpected Fortnite Skin,” “The Award for Video Game That Would've Won GOTY Had It Come Out in October,” and “The Award for Video Game Most Likely to Be Released in 2027.”
Thank you for supporting the Besties and the Resties in 2024. We truly couldn't do the show without you. And we can't wait to create more podcasts for you in 2025!

I completely agree with Plante about how the gaming landscape is looking. How do you justify investing in these huge AAA releases when they aren't meeting expectations? Especially when a game like Balatro can come out of nowhere and sell a few million copies. It seems like a scary time to be making games, but it sure is a great time to play them! Interested to see how it all shakes out in the next few years.

2024-12-24 14:51:35 +0000 UTCI gotta say for anyone genuinely curious, the best analogue to Skibidi Toilet that would be widely recognized is probably something like Transformers or GI Joe. It’s a decent animated action series with just enough plot to keep kids invested but it’s primarily a vehicle to sell merchandise. I don’t think it started as intentionally as those other examples, i think the creator kinda lucked into it going viral and spun it into that, but I don’t think it’s any more malicious than anything else in capitalism. It’s not gonna poison your kids’ minds the same way pokemon, rock music, etc didn’t poison yours/your parents.
