Last Dance - Shield - rewards.

A massive shield improvised out of a casket, its always cold to the touch and emits a high pitch sound that freezes anyone who gets repelled by it.

• Armor (shield) - rare

• Requires attunement

• +2 AC

• Equipping this shield reduces your speed by 10 feet.

• Half-Cover: gain half-cover by using a bonus action, sacrifice half your movement speed.

• Shrieking-counter: when successfully avoiding a physical melee attack with this shield attuned, it counter attacks with a high pitch sound that deal 1d4 cold damage and inflicts bane for 1 turn to that creature.

• Last dance:

Charges: once per long rest

Duration: 3 turns or until you end it or your character or ghost HP turns to 0.

With a Command word you chose while attuning to the shield, the casket opens to reveal a corpse, its hair starts to wrap around the casket to create strings under tension and your body will be possessed by a spirit of a tormented musician trapped inside, right after, your body will start playing a melody as cold as ice - the Last dance.

This casts Hunger of Hadar (3rd level spell) around you until the ability lasts. Anyone who is inside the darkness can hear the melody.

Also any creature inside this area cannot regain HP and creatures who dies inside have their souls become temporarily a Will-O'-Wisp (Monster), these spirits will follow your commands for as long as the ability lasts (maximum of 3 creatures).

While in this state your body will become incapacitated but resistant to all damage, and your soul will be expelled out of the body to become a ghost for the duration of this ability.

while in ghost mode use the statblock of your character as usual but with 30 HP, the ghost does not take damage from Hunger of Hadar and can see normally, it can also teleport anywhere inside the darkness instead of having to walk, you can do this as a free action.

If the ghost dies, it will return back to your body ending the ability and magical chains will bind the casket again.

“Once, a desperate musician traded his soul to the God of Death to preserve a love lost too soon. With a single command word, the casket opens and its dreadful secret is revealed: a corpse emerges, its hair stretching out like sinewy strings, forming a grisly instrument woven from bone and sinew. As your soul is cast from your body, the spirit of the musician fills your empty body. Your hands, no longer your own, dance along the strings, conjuring a melody so sorrowful and cold that it sends shivers through the night. Darkness erupts around you, the void hungry for souls.”
