Quick update on The VVitch

Hello beautiful Patreon people, I am still tearing through the script to the VVitch, but I'm also arranging things for the production alongside that. I have an actual guest this time and it's a doozy. I will probably (privately) announce who that is here as soon as I have the files in hand, I just don't want to jinx anything until I'm absolutely certain it will come to fruition. There's hopefully going to be a couple of other cool surprises all being well.

I'm currently a walking boredom machine as my brain is inhabited solely by all things Puritan and right now I'm trying to line up the dialogue in the film with trial transcripts, memoirs and manuscripts from the era. It's a laborious process but already bearing fruit. In terms of witchcraft and demonology and so on, expect a lot on that. Expect a lot on everything, because despite being half the length of Midsommar we also have about three millennia's worth of history and persecution to go through if we really want to consider this 'complete'. As I'll say several times during the guide - this isn't a story about a witch. It's a story about THE witch, in a sense then all witches. And I intend to cover that too. The script is currently half the length of Midsommar's and I haven't got very far into the actual film at all, so I'd expect something comparable in length to that when all is said and done. As far as the whole witchcraft and womanhood side of things goes it does feel like we're very much picking up where the Hereditary video ended, and as far as Robert Eggers' work goes we're going to be writing some wrongs from my (lacking) video on The Lighthouse.

I am going to try and get a quick Patreon video out this week, not sure what that will be yet, I'll probably just wait until something appears that I can rant about, but if any of you have any ideas please feel free to shout them out to me. Now, and always.

Thank you all so much for your continuing support. I know every creator with a Patreon says it, but there is really no way I could spend months on one video and make this a success. It's just entirely impractical, yet in spite of that we're well on the way to making it a reality. You have my promise that I am going to do justice to this phenomenal movie and I am going to do right by Robert Eggers. And when all of this is done I will not even take a week before starting Beau, I don't care if it's Christmas. We're moving.

Thank you.

Not a chance unfortunately dude, very close to finishing the script and then about a month of editing making the actual video. I thought it would be shorter than Midsommar, because the film is, but unfortunately Robert Eggers decided to reference literally everything that ever happened during the witch trials and so, research wise, it's just been insane!

any chance we'll see the finished product before halloween?

Dude I can’t wait to watch this documentary of yours. Re watching the VVitch currently again

Alton

The amount of effort you put into these is insane

I'm starting my first read of the screenplay. Your videos got me into them. Now I'm a collector 🧹🫶🏻

I am trying to get over my Ari Aster obsession to watch The VVitch, very excited to see it a few times before your guide comes out.

Scarlett

I really appreciate these updates!

Anna Elo

Your attention to detail is second to none, man. I challenge myself to keep up. You da man!!!

I’ve never watched the film but I thought this matched an energy of momentum your update had. An anthem for the cause! Plus your British, Brits have always appreciated the Cramps. The heroin take blows my mind after all these years. Another great observation by you, good sir. This weekend I have been trying to let the Velvet Underground into my world. And I was working their song Heroin into a pretty cool playlist. Keeping on, keeping on!

Benny Ford

This rules. Love the Cramps.

Jessica Elsener

Oh man, The Cramps rule. Their singer also did the Dracula scream in a scene from Bram Stokers Dracula, where Oldman just didn't have enough oomph

Jessica Elsener

I love this dude, can't believe I haven't heard it before! I absolutely see the relevance to the film but just also wondering if they by chance did large amounts of heroin? Because big black witchcraft rock is making me think 'heroin'.

I've only seen it twice, I imagine that number is going to go up very rapidly soon!
