Devlog #5 - Illusion Shutting Down?

Hey guys! It's been awhile since my last development log. I do like these posts as they really show what's been happening behind the scenes. And we have a big one..

Illusion, the developers behind the Honey Select, and Koikatsu series of games, is shutting down. This is really big, I don't even know other games that does the kind of thing they're doing. Maybe Daz3D, but it's a different art-style. They say it's because they just don't make enough money. Which is crazy, considering how popular Koikatsu and HS2 is on Steam. Some also say that it's due to Mastercard, Visa and Japan's own regulation getting more and more tight restrictions on adult games that makes it hard for them to publish and earn overseas.

Which sounds possible. I don't if you know this, but Patreon requires my page to be verified, due to Mastercard's requirement of being an adult content creator. And it's probably not going to stop there. They really hate us for some reason..

Well.. whatever happens next, I'm determined to finish this game. It'd be a waste, considering all the work I've put on it. Pages and pages of initial draft, all thinking of the plot necessary for each of the maidens. The myriad of tutorials I had to consult to really start with Ren'Py. Code that makes me wanna cry when an error pops up. Choosing the right music for each scenes (which is surprisingly nice to do), or creating the UI to run the game right.. But I actually do enjoy the process.

It's been a long year, and hopefully I don't have to end it too soon as well.

Also, if you want to know more about the game, I will be updating Claire's storyline, as well as adding her into the open world (maiden in free-roam?!) I know. Finally..

I'm also thinking of merging the story into one storyline, considering some of the maidens have related plotlines and (possibly) have the same villains. It'd be almost chapter based like a novel, but I'm still thinking the logistics of merging my previous story chapters into one smooth storyline, so assume 0.7 for this.

TLDR; I will continue making this game, and next update is Claire :p
