Quentin rules

Gabi Brahm

Wait, did Quentin pick the Human Factor for the first episode of season two of his podcast because Bret said he got jerked off while watching this movie in 1974? lol

Alistair Dean

See also The Moderns and the woefully misunderstood Made in Heaven

Moz

Hal Hartley is also fantastic Bret’s off on this one

Sam Goode

Some severe underrating of Alan Rudolph in this episode. Choose me and remember my name are great films.

Sam Goode

stavo per scrivere la stessa cosa.

Giovanni Loddo

I love this crew!

Michael

You mean Sweet November Quentin? Lake House was with Sandra Bullock.

Virginia Gonzales

I’m calling that “Quartz’ quarter” ;)

J Hay

So after shelling out £25 to import the Blu-ray of Someone’s Watching Me!, I guess I’m doing the same with The Promise. PS. Last Days of Disco is great.

Paul Richardson

Quentin’s recommendations can be so good, so I thank him for: Trancers, The Reincarnation of Peter Proud, Death Stalk, others I forgot (not a movie)

Ski Milius

Wow. You are truly a cultist.

J Hay

Great ep! QT ( affectionately) calling out Bret for occasionally misrepresenting him just proves what an attentive listener to the podcast he is.

GC

i actually thought the shards would be a perfect vehicle for tarantinos final /10th film. LA early 80s new wave backdrop, familiar tarantino venue, a young up and coming cast like the bunch he had in once upon a time in h-wood (qualley, butler, sweeney, etc), great chance for early 80s needle drops...could have been awesome

Collin Myers

while i love the loose conversation i kind of wish there had been a lil bit more structure to this. specifically asking roger and quentin about maybe a list of specific movies--maybe stuff we havent heard them/tarantino bloviate about in past interviews/articles.

Collin Myers

Guys, just take a look here, full cinematic version Bateman impersonator, it’s kind of a mind melter… https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_W6ersPX2Z/?igsh=MWUxcG84eWNxdmdodA==

Kevin

Telling you the story about Lana Turner in Madame X is like dancing about architecture, words can't adequately describe the experience of watching her performance

T Frick

respectfully, Edi - Brett and Quentin are indeed pronouncing "giallo" correctly. "gia..." simply becomes "jah" phonetically in Italian. Parli italiano? Penso di no.... ciao!

Missalias

Tarantino kinda sucks. I would dig more Roger. Also, why can't Bret just get these guys to do The Shards? I got a lot of ideas of stuff to watch from this.

Billy Vega

I always enjoy hearing QT, cuz I ALWAYS learn tons of shit...what I found funny about this convo was how they rapped about STAR 80 in the beginning, then about THEY ALL LAUGHED at the end...without ever mentioning the connection between the two?...but maybe I missed it. CHARLEY VARRICK FTW!

Johnny Blade

George Quartz

Eric Roberts was Oscar nomimated for Runaway Train. Haven't seen Raggedy Man, but of course Pope of Greenwich Village is his best and most iconic performance.

Edi Panta

Pleez... Pleez... Giallo is pronounced GEE-ALLO it simply means YELLOW, but translates to a PULP NOVEL or pulpy story in English.

Edi Panta

I hope they bring up Eric Roberts memoir in pt 2

Frank Formica

Great group/episode! Please have Lili Anolik on to talk about her new book & Bennington! 💕

BRC

Bret please read this. See Terrifier 3

Ryan Lewis

Very tough listen, yeesh

Gnome

another episode just with Roger would be awesome

Christian Eden

Great conversation. Quentin nails the issue with most movie podcasts. Video Archives is excellent. Bret should double up on his Geritol, do a bump of Metamucil chased with a shot of prune juice, and go see TERRIFIER 3 in theaters.

R. M.

Great episode!

Peter Guzzo

Lmao trump is “boring” is a fucking joke. MAGa for fucking life. MAGA for humanity. MAGA to make Losers like you seethe

Adam Lehrer

Agree with another comment - these two movie nerds are a good foil for Bret and his more bleak outlook. Someone said Tarantino was obnoxious but he's always been this way, he's also super knowledgable and his passion for film (which borders on autistic) is great and Roger helps level him out. A great trio really.

Bazayer

I want to hear Roger's thing.

Dan Smith

To all the QT haters in here - stop whining! (yes in Arnie voice). This was obviously recorded casually with just three dudes hanging out and after the pessimism of Bret’s depression lately I felt the laidback style of this one was so refreshing. Especially what with all the doom and gloom lately going on in the world and the impending “end of the world” election. As for the Video Archives Podcast; it’s one of the best movie podcasts going along with The Unwatchables. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn’t checked it out yet.

David Willis

Please run backwards. Mix the routine up. Tell us how that goes, other than in reverse.

J Hay

Harris is not even close to my favorite candidate overall, but no one is as corrupt, arrogant, selfish, disingenuous — yet somehow boring— as Trump.

J Hay

“Last Days of Disco” is one of my all-time favorites — and I wasn’t a disco fan, back in the day. The ending is simply great. And I also like many of Hal Hartley’s movies. But yes, I saw “The Unbelievable Truth” at a film festival in LA.

J Hay

Leone, Godard, Hawks, Wilder, DePalma, Scorsese are lowbrow?

NLJZ

Boohoo.

NLJZ

This is a infomercial not down with it

Mister Farkel

QT is annoying and arrogant. He's condescending to Bret and Roger. He interrupts constantly. His whole movie ethos is like a music critic who says the greatest bands were Kansas and REO Speedwagon. Oh, how cool to like the lowbrow!

Steve

I take back what I said about the interviews. This one is fantastic.

Von Wintermarck

fuck dude quentin tarantino is obnoxious as hell. his podcast probably sucks.

Brian Rooney

Why has McCarthy been so obsessed with that New York magazine article on the Brat Pack for the better part of 40 years? Simple, he was barely mentioned and he was butt hurt about being left out. This obsession was his way of being included. The only mention of him in the entire article was this one dismissive comment, not exactly by the journalist but by a “peer.” “And of Andrew McCarthy, one of the New York–based actors in St. Elmo’s Fire, a co-star says, ‘He plays all his roles with too much of the same intensity. I don’t think he’ll make it.’” It would have understandably hurt to much to accept that his peer flippantly dismissed him so he focused his anger on David Blum.

KCDC

The three horsemen of the Cineplex

Erick

Was a nice bocadillo of a podcast

Erick

QT and Avary think Hal Hartley is funnier than Whit Stillman? Gimme a break...

Bryan

Who doesn’t love listening to three film enthusiasts interrupting and talking over each other for an hour? Great stuff—looking forward to part two! On a side note, I really hope Bret talks about the upcoming American Psycho movie with Luca Guadagnino. I don’t recall seeing him comment on it yet. I can’t wait to hear what he thinks about that!

Darren

i really cant wrap my head around that video of quentin screaming about the importance of installing kamala harris as puppet dictator, hollywood makes your biggest heroes into goons

Adam Lehrer

I know I won't.

slimshadyfan666

it's the mulatto festoons you goons!

slimshadyfan666

Just getting started ... 😉

Sorry for the shameless plug, but I hope people will read my anti-woke novel, The Deplorable, published by OJA&L, a small but growing press. : ) https://ojalart.com/hot-button-press2023-serialsmick-mcgraththe-deplorableinstallment-1/

Michael McGrath

Hell yeah. Roger in the house

Harry G

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

richard owain roberts

I’ve enjoyed all the film episodes recently but I feel like it’s been too long since we got a literature-focused episode

Oscar

Fandango always and forever

Moz

Patrick

video archives is so good and bret needs to go on that and talk about crappy 70s movies. first season was on like amazon music or whatever

Poetical Gore

Always end up adding so many obscure films to my watchlist when these guys talk haha — great episode so far! Looking forward to part 2.

Riley
